Boy in Colorado 14st August two Globe arrived jn Richmond enroute from New York to Sau Francisco where they expected to turn and make the trip back home the entire dis tance on foot In Richmond they were the center of several admiring group of pet pIe to whom they related a very interesting story of their travels through Virginia Tennessee and Kentucky They spent sometime in Jack son county and claimed to have the picture of a moon shine still- Nothing has been heard from them until last week when Mr James Wagers re ceived a letter from his cousin Mr Hume Wagers at Wray Colorado saying that two men giving their names as Foe bush and Elmendorf had been in the town and in a conver sation with them he had learn dthat they visited Richmond Ky and had met James Woods Wagers They had an star twirler of the Richmond Blue Grass League team will not go to the Memphis Southern League team but will be seen with the San Antonia Texas League outfit during the coming season Allison had signed a contract to play with Memphis but he was not released by the Richmond managemont until the draft ing season was over and he was drafted by San Antonia A dispatch from Lexington says there seems to be a pro bability that Newport will be in the Blue Grass Base Ball League next season and there is also a possibility that Cov thisbleague In that event the league willmake an eight club circuit and the Blue Grass League which has heretofore been confined to Central Ken tucky would largely increase its importance and prestige The management of the New port club is anxious to buy a franchise from one of the present members or other wise enter the Blue Grass stumblingbblock for the present is Pres ident Garry Hermann of Cin cinnati of the National Com mission who has refused the the county Miss Lucy Noe of Paint Lick who has been Pointbschool She was married a few days ago to Mr John Rupe of thatsection and her many coworkers will join the Climax in wishing them a long life of happiness Supt No1 land says that he always feels very uneasy at the close of the term each year when the phone rings thinkingit is one of his able teachers having decided that matrimony was ahead pull the wool over tho peoples eyes It has been heralded all over tho State in order to bolster up Hon Ben Johnsons candidacy for Governor that ho got tho lar gest majority over given in the district The vote shows though that although his majority was greater ho received over two thousand votes less than he did two years teforo in the same district notwithstanding that this was a Democratic landslide year The paper adds that this was because tho Republican candidate laid down on a hint from the leaders of the party that it would possibly boom Johnson and mako nomination for Governor which they so much desire a reality The Republicans believe that Johnson will bo the easiest man to defeat and will do everything to secure his nomination Jcnowing it is their only chance to win The John sons vote in his district was 24344 with Gaddie 21240 In 1910 he wits only able to poll 18203 to Gaddies 11052 If Dr Gaddio had received tho same vote this year that he did in 1903 he would have defeated Johnson by about 3000 votes Where can Johnson brag of running such a wonderful race for congress in Nov ember It looks big to those who read of his carrying every county in his district but they dont look further for the facts and see in comparing his race in 1908 that he really lost votes in nearly every county His candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Kentucky will in existence was raised within twenty hours from the start and according to the official figures there will boa good sum over this amount As was stated in last weeks issuo of the Climax this charitable institution was in dire straits for funds with which to operate and tho load of debt it was carrying about to crush it to an early suspensIon of operation This fact was mado known to tho public in general at a meetlnghold last weeK and it was decided to organize in squads and canvass the city thoroughly in the hope of raising this money Friday and Saturday wero the days appointed and by six oclock Saturday evening tho work was about completed the finishing sums coming in a little later Never was there such a systematic soliciting practiced in Richmond and not a person escaped whom it was thought might spare their mite for this cause Every house in Richmond and suburbs was visited and it can be said to tho credit of the common people that their gifts although small wore in every case extended willingly and in many instances more than they wero able The present Indebtedness will now bo wiped away and the institution begin with a clean slato It is hoped by all concerned that a satisfactory agreement can bo made with the Fiscal court and the City council whereby they will be able to use tho infirmary liberally and thereby help to supply tho revenue It is the opinion of the most conservative that tho Fiscal court as well as the City Council is more than willing to aid all in its power but in handling the peoples money sane and business like methods must bo employed We will celebrate tho Christmas very appro priately and tho Sunday school children will all have their joys in the Yuletido increased by Xmas trees and goodies At tho Baptist church Friday evening there will be a Christmas tree for the children Santa Claus is expected and a number of small gifts will be presented to tho little boys and girls At tho First Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon beginning at 4 oclock there will be a Christmas tree for tho Sunday school and special music by the choir A general good time for tho little folks is expected At the Second Presbyterian church under the direction of Mr Edgar Todd and Miss Leah AzbilL Special music will also be a feature of the program At St Marks Catholic church Christ mas Day will be celebrated with High at 5 a m Low Mass at 7 a m and High Mass followed by Benediction at 9 There will bo a special musical program by a selected choir under the direction of tho talented organist Miss Norma Giunchigliani At the Methodist church the Christ ross for the Sunday school will bo in the nature of a charitable entertainment The exercises will bo held Saturday evening beginning at 7 oclock Each person is expected to bring a small dona tion nothing less than a potato or an apple A barrel will be at the door to receive it Each class will arrange their gifts as decorations during the exercises The baskets of provisions will
