The date of the battle was on tho last Knnininv in August 18G2. Some of the nrincinal farmers in this section are James Been. uick jones, Alex (iibbs, Socrates Mau- pm, Irauk Man pin, Tom Anderson. wm. Bowles, who is 84 years old and still spry and active, Arch Doty, and James i'arks. The father of the last named was one of the most prominent men in his day, was married three times and reared a family of ten children. all of whom did well in life. I do not wish to overlook a once noted farmer of this section, Hon. Wash. Maupin, wno owned Hunter's Rest, located a mile from Kingston and which is now occupied by his son Joseph.
