North must look to the men of the South to make this Union worth the saving A brief reference to history for the last few years will readily demonstrate the growth and sources of power and the extent of the power of the Organized Wealth of the United States At the close of the civil war the care and at tention of tho people North and South were given to the reestablishment of their homes and tho recuperation of heir fortunes All conditions thereto lore existing were affected and the country was iu a state of confusion and disorder and within a low years after the close of tho war a largo wore propitious Tho President and the Congress were sub ject to influence The refunding acts core passed by which the life of the bonds were extended again and again and the payment of tho national debt correspondingly deferred Then were enacted the law providing that these bonds and the interest thereon should bo paid in coin They wore purchased with greenbacks worth on an average considering all the bonds about CO cents on tho dollar in coin j the result being that by legislation it was pro vided that the people should pay to tho bondholders two dollars for every one dollar loaned to the Cincinnati Bar to which wo direct the attention of young lawyers It is an outline oi a civil action the regular parts of plead ing remedies for defective pleading the petition the answer the reply trial verdict and judgment new trial ap peal and error To our mind it is a key or diagram in concise form for Instant reference If he who makes two blades of grass grow where only one grew before has done so good a work to entitle him to be called a benefactor of his race why should we not seek for similar results in the world of law that is why should we not seek to devise means whereby two facts learned in tho same time and by the same la bor whichby former methods were re quhed to secure only one To do this in reference to the subject of Codo Pleading is tbe object of Mr Clay and It is obvious that not twice but ten times as muce knowledge xof tho sub Ject may be gained with azjvcn amount of time or labor nsby any otimermetbod In usin this analysis the eye will fol low time tables TARVIN FOUND HIMSELF AFTER HIS SPEECH Printed Elsewhere in the Climax Lexington Herald Our Kentucky friend Judge Tarvin carried off the honors next to Mr Bryan aud sat down after his speech- to find himself famous 5 a It was an ovation earnest enthusi astic and full of meaning And his speech Diet the fervid approval of his delighted hearers It was of that nature of oration which has stirred thousands in many ages of the world The care ful student of human nature and human history is familiar with many just such speeches delivered to excite thousands in Judeo Athens Rome Paris and America It is the passionate utter ance of tho reformer against organized power against recognized force tgainst existing conditions In favor of change of reform of somo new and vaguely defined conditions It appeals to all who desire change to all who want better things to all who have any grievance or bear burdens or with whom life has been hard And life is hard with so many of us we stagger forward under so many burdens we carry so much unnecessary weightthat re respond with full heart to such appeals And there is much truth and justice in the arraignment ho makes against organized wealth Corpora tions have combined into trustsfran chises have been recklessly and cor ruptly bartered away long years of leg islation have made the rich richer the and poor poorer It was a ational misfortune that the Supreme Court decided the income tax law unconstitu tional and that this reversal of Its previous decision was by such a division among the justices and under such peculiar circumstances And therefore his hearers felt that the arraignment was at least in part just and they responded to the appeals for redress Every editor has received these little cards The postmaster sends them to the editor Tho postmaster is not to blame For instance there was a man by the name ofwell say Tim Spriggins who sent us threo notices to stop bis paper he didnt want it any longer We wondered what was the matter Upon examining the subscription book we found Tim short 10 lie had never paid a cent and yet he stopped his paper as a matter of econo myto us We didnt want to loose any more by him tA few days after wards Spriggins was at church and his melodious tenor rang out loud and clear in the old stirring song Jesus Paid It all We might have been mistaken but his earnestness impressed us So tho next day we sent him a receipt in full begging his pardon for not knowing that he had mado an assignment of his liabilities to the LordMurray Ledger The sale of Liggett Myers
