to ithe City Council Mayor W A Samuels created n sensation last Friday evening at an adjourned meeting of the City Council by tendering his resignation as Mayor of the City to take effect immediately No reason was assigned by him other than his desire to discontinuepublic seryice and the Council hoping he could be induced to reconsider his action postponed consideration of his resignation until the next regular tweeting During his official life both as Councilman and then as Mayor Mr Samuels has labored zealously for the best interests of the City and the whole people He has made mistakes as has everyman 1 in public life other than the all too numerous donothing kind but no one doubts his sincerity of purpose in anything he undertakesAll people will ad mit that the present City Admin istratipn of which he is the official head has accomplished more in the past two years than have nilOthCl administrations during the previous decade An honest publicservant has a thankless task before twenty eighthMiss Harris is a sister of Mrs J A Vansant of this city and is well known and extensively admired here where she has often visited her sister Mr Harrison is a prominent attorney in Deluth between the local gun club and the Winchester Club Some of the best shooting ever seen on the local field was pulled off Friday afternoon in the match between Mt Sterling and Winchester Gun Clubs Eleven men shot ona side and the visitors pulled down the victory by 9 birds winning by a score 4GO to 451 out of a possible 550 Three of the Mt Sterling men made 48 out of a possible 50 and the entire team averaged 42 birds The local boys averaged 41 At the conclusion of the match the visitors who had come from Mt Sterling in automobiles were entertained by the local club at dinnerThe
