independent tobacco buyer Some years ago he moved to our city from Bethel Bath county where he had a barn burned by night Aiders and since his residence here has been engaged in the buying and selling of tobacco He has made many friends here and a de termined effort will be made to bring the guilty party or parties to justice Special Matinee By special arrangement the management o f the Lyceum Course has secured a matinee to be given on the aft rnoonof Tues day January 17th the Dudley Buck Concert Company of Indian apolis which js to appear here on the evening of the sanie date The matinee will be held at215 oclock an the Tabb Opera House This matinee was secured especially for the benefit of the pupils of the various schools of Alt Ster ling A plan has been perfected whereby all the with us always I MRS M E CASSIDY One of our Most Prominent Wo men Dies at the Home of her daughter In Winchester Mrs Martha Elizabeth Cassidy wife of the late Judge M M Cas- sidy who had been dangerously ill at the home of her daughter Mrs M T McEldowney of Win chester answered the call of the death angel on Thursday morning Jan 5 1911 Mrs Cassidy was in her 73rd year She was born at Sharps bu4 Ky May 21 1838 and was aqanirhter of Andrew Boyd and Wife In 1859 she was married toI M1M Cassidy of Fleming county in 1863 they moved to this county on the Paris Pike and in 1869 they purchased and moved to the pres ent family residence on High street Mrs Cassidy is survived by three daughters Mrs B W Trimble of this city Mrs M T McEldowney of Winchester and Mrs M G Buckner of Owens boro two sisters Mrs Wm Withers of Sharpsburp and Mrs Bettie Roe of Shelbyville It was while on a visit to her daughter in Winchester last July that Mrs Cassidys condition be came cerious and her physicians deemed it best for her not to be brought home For over a year Mrs Cassidy had been in failing health and like the Christian that she was she bore her suffering without complaint In the years of her youth she professed her belief in the Savior and had always lived a life worthy of an example which others would do well to follow TITus anotherkirid andeffection ate sister true and loving mother has bid this world her last fare welland gone forth to meet her mate who preceeded her to the grave nearly six years ago In the loss of Mrs Cassidy her family and friends have sustained stock but fix ed the limit of indebtedness at a million dollars passed a resolution asking Congress to enact n law providing that the growers of tobacco should have the same full information in Government publi c cations as the tobacco trust now has of the farmers affairs gathered from the report of the Board of Estimates of the National Depart ment of Agriculture elected a president secretary and treasurer and started a movement to get to gether with other tobacco organi zations in the effort to create a fair price and a stable market for tile crop officers of the organic 1The new1j l ation are President June W Gayle of Owen county Vice President James F Mid dleton of Shelby county Secretary and treasurer C F Chenault of Madison county The articles of incorporation provide for an organization until the tobacco growers have had the opportunity to Jpass themselves on the matter of their leaders and the time for that action is fixedart the Saturday preceding the first Mondar in February 11 when the growers of the Burley counties are asked to meet at their res pective voting precincts and elect a member of a county Board of Control these men are to meet at the county seat on the Monday following and elect a county chair man who will be a member of the Board of Directors of the new or ganization TO MEET MAEOH 6 The new board is called to meet in Lexington on the 6th clavof Marchwhen the terms of the elected last week will ex fcers the selection of a full yet- of officers will be left to the diretj ly elected representatives of the l peopleUnder the terms severall circumstances which mark it out from nearly all preceding years In the first place it has been a cold year andtin the seconda wet year The average temperature for the year of 1910 was 537 degrees as compared with the normal of 55 degrees This average makes it the coldest year since 1905 in which year the average fell to 535 or twotenths of one degree lower than 1910 Most of the months of the year were deficient in temperature ex cept March which was the warm est ever known the temperature averaging 544 degrees or 11 de grees higher than the normal May June T uland August were all
