worn out the timber bark c are gone Now this last part is true our timber bark c went and the owners realized very little for them and one of the greatest rea sons for this was the miserable roads over which we were forced to wagon in order to reach the rail road We could haul about one half as much over our roads as men could over good roads in the the summer and fall and only get in a day now and then in the winter We could also soon kill up a good team and wear out or break down a good wagon Now these are the most potent reasons why so many men advanced back wards financially when they for sook their farms for the woods and road but show me a man that stuck to his farm if it was worthy the name and in most of the cases I will show you a man living at home The fact in the case is simply this when a man wagoned over our roads the expense overran the profits and as he could not follow the life ofa teamster and run a farm at the same time the result was the farm fencing c necessarily went down But now the timber being gone men will return to their farms and build up again but I shall be too busily engaged in my canvass to devote much time to the road question un til
