to the children at home and myIen teredviz Mt Vernon Collegiate Institute In the first place I want to say that Mt Vernon is a beautiful little town located on the L N R R It has some magnificent brick buildings completed and others go irg up and the town seems to be on a boom and all its citizens seem to be friends of the Institute that is auspiciously run by Prof Ewers who is not only taking great interest in educating his pu pils in the text books but he magi fests a great interest in their moral training as well We are taught the Word of God and are required to go through an examination in the Word of God and are graded in the Bible as well as our text books We have a good corps of teachers and now after a sixweeks stay at Mt Vernon and attending school every day we can say to the young men and women of our county who feel an interest in getting an education that they can not do better than to come to our school at Mt Vernon If you want an education this is the place to come and if you want to teach you can be better equipped for your work by coming and spending a few months with us for the last month of this term will be given especial ly to this line of work We now have three pupils from Brodheadand are looking for more soon So come on girls and boys we willbe glad to see you and our teachers will do you good We do hope that Miss DelphaI Collyer our schoolmate tered school with us but was com pelled to drop out tor a few weeks on account of her mother being sick will get to return soon for Miss Delpha was a studious pupil and we miss her so much So Delpha come how closely he tried to carry out any resolve that he made In 1875 he married Miss Mpllie Fish second daughther of Judge JB Fish who has been dead five years They had only two children W F and Miss Margaret He leaves three sisters Mrs W P Hiatt Mrs Perander Hiatt and Mrs Lee Andrew Houk of Jamestown Ind and two brothers W C McClary of Kansas City Mo and Mr A K McClary of this county He never joined any church but God in hie mercy accorded him the time dur ing his long continued illness to regulate the affairs of his consci enceIn all the changing scenes of his eventful life instorrn and
