lung trouble but is now impr ing REFLECTIONS OF A CITI ZENoN THE WANTS OF ROCKCASTLE COUNTY While reflectingon the needs of Rockcastle county it occurred to us that there are many ways in which we could make improve ments Of course good roads is the first thing to take into considr eratiou and tleffort that was made last fall was not without a good effect even if the cause went down in defeat It brought the matter before the people and set them thinking We have no ill feeling toward any for the way he voted on the question but after every one ip the county has ample time for mature deliberation it should be re submitted and the sense of the people again taken as to whether they desire better roads We want to say now that it is only a matte of time till something will be done along that line Rockcas tIe caut withstand much longer There is no one so narrowtuiu ed as to contend fora niomeut that good roa4s will not prove more beneficial to us than anything else that could take place and we hon estly believe when the mattec is1 rightly uncjerstppd it will carry by an overwhelming majority Lets not quit till we see a pike extending from Lincoln to Laurel j and foin Madison to Pulaski It will be done and we had as well be enjoying it But that is not all This county is no doubt adapted to the raising of tobacco and to matoes and we want to see in the near future a tobacco nianufactoiy and a canninpfactory erected in this county at some convenient place We understand that the people JBrodhead contemplate entering into the manufacturing of tobacco and the canning of to matoes etc OJ course we dont expect Mt Vernon to do anything of this kind but there are places in the county progressive enough to take hold and make both a suc cuss and we would not be at all surprised iC Brodhead nets right down to business and pushes the matter to an early completion It is immaterial with us what place does this but we I do think the county seat might at least try to
