out of debt and a bill appropriating 1 000000 for tho erecting of a new state capltnl passed that body with but one dissenting vote A commission to carry out tho provisions of tbo act was appointed consider the matter and tho location was changed to South Frankfort on tho grounds known as time Hunt place containing thirty acres fur which tho state paid 40 000A contract was let to tho General Supply amid Construction company of New York for the erection of the building On Aug 14 1105 ground was broken for tho foundation and on Juno 10 1000 tho cornerstone was laid Incident to tho change of outer walls of the building are ornamented with Ionic columns thirtytwo on tho front four on either end and thirty on tin back all of which are monoliths twen tysoven feet ten incites tall wclghdu stomach by a mare Tues day morning and badly injured injurycaught tho blow from the animals hoof in the pit of the stomach shortly after eating a hearty breakfast He was knocked fiaton his back and rendered unconscious Ills back was hurt by the fall also and he has been confined to his bed since Mr Baughman was con siderably improved Friday and hopes to soon be out again was standing close to tho mare when she lunged and kicked at him The Injury would have undoubtedly been much more serious had he been a little farther away and caught the full swing of the flying hoofs To Fight White Plague Meetings To Be Held At Two Points In County The physicians at other points in the county are actively interested in the antituberculosis fight A mass meeting will be held at tho Christian Stanford this week the tax rate for the l pport of tho Graded School was again fixed at40 cents and 125 poll tax the same as last year The board reorganized reelecting Dr W B OBannon president and Prof J W Ireland secretary It was decid ed to increase the stable accommoda tions on the school grounds to double their present capacity so as to better care for the horses and rigs of those who drivo MAN SAW- POSTOFFICE ROBBERS Before Deed Was Done But Did Not Suspect Their Intention The Exact Loss i No clew has been discovered to the men who broke into the Stanford post office last Tuesday morning and so for- M known no steps have been taken to discover the robbers The U S secret service works very quietly however and its detectives may have already been here and at work The men who are believed to have broken Into the postoftlco were seen by Will Salter a colored man shortly af ter midnight standing in front of the postolfice Salter was watching to keep dogs off the new granitoid pavement in front of the First National Bank and as the pavement had become sufficiently hard was on his way home The men one tall and the other rather upJockeycourthouse and Christian church so that he could not tell whether they were white or colored He went on borne and shortly afterward the explosion was heard Postmaster Florence has figured up the exact loss which was 5874 in cash 38370 in
