Tha Annual Christian Woman' Hoard of Missions and llible School Convention of the Tenth district, composed of tho counties of Lincoln, Garrard, Madison and Pulaski, will convene in Stanford on Tuesday, April 19, for a two days' session. Delegates from the other three counties of tho district are arriving hero for, the session, and tho people of the city have opened their homes for entertainment of the Kurats. W. I. Williams, of Lancaster, is president of the Oible School Convention and Miss Elizabeth Simpson, of Marksbury, is secretary. Mrs. George Kobinson, cf Lancaster, i C. W. II. M. Manager. Stanford is to bo given an old fashioned cleaning up on April 22 and 23. The city council at a special meeting Thursday night, adopted the suggestion of the women's Civic Improvement Club, and agreed to furnish a horse and wagon and two men to go over the city and take up and cart away all debris on the days named. Everyone will be required .to have h 8 or her back yard and premises cleaned, and the debris and trash deposited on the street in front of the resldenco so that the taking up nnd carting away of the dirt may require no more time than Is absolutely necessary. The city fathers are determined to give the city a thorough spring cleaning and hope for the hearty of all citizens in this good work as well as the members of the Civic Improvement Club. As a result of the cruinde for better seed, which Commissioner of Agricul ture Rankin has just concluded in 40 counties of Kentucky, it Is expected thut the corn crop this season will ex cel that grown In any previous year both In quantity of production and quality. Corn Growers' Clubs have been organized in these 40 counties and pure ured UooneLounty Whltesced corn furnished to the members, and a great showing Is expected. Ten counties of the state were canvassed in this way last year and the yield was splendid. Other counties will be organized next season, until the campaign for better seed and more corn is carried into every section of the commonwealth. This season's campaign was closed here Friday when a club was organized with about 50 members, composed of some of the most progressive farmers of Lincoln county and community. Hon. W. H. Strange, of Hart county, gave the club many valuable hints on production of a better grade of corn and iu cultivation and then distributed the seed. The Lincoln County Club was organized with the following officers: A W. Carpenter, president; Peter Carter, fi'st vice president; William Beck, second vice president; Shelton Saufley, secretary; William Bright, treasurer.
