I will fill with sorrow all who loved his brother William Goebel and admired the deceased for his many manly traits for his wonderful devotion to his broth ers memory and his uncompromising determination to ferret out punish those guilty of his assassination either by act or conspiracy That he did so rfewhonest men will deny but the work of nearly ten years went for nau when a partisan governor pardoned the assassins The blow seemed to break his spirit and destroy his health and he has never been a well mansince His one object In life was gone an completely broken down he sought knew were guilty of firing the shot which killed his brother or of conspiring to the heinous act He restrained him self however and bythe irony of fate goes hence while those who killed his brother are permitted to encumber the earth Viewing all the facts connected with the horrible crime and Arthur Goebels ten years of selfsacrifice i almost makes a man doubt the justic- of e God Almighty that he should di and the assassins live Arthur Goebel was as gentle and as kindly in disposition as a woman and although his sorrow had made him taco iturn to a great degree he was loved by all who knew him as a devoted broth er a true friend and the highest type of a gentleman The unveiling of Gov Goebels stat ue at Frankfort which has been in po sition for more than a year has been three times postponed on account of Arthur Goebeld illness and now when the day is set for February 3 it will be unveiled without his presence May God reward his sacrifice and devotion and curse in deepest hell through all eternity every one connected with the diabolical crime which ended the life of his brother the friend of the grea common people and drove him to an untimely grave Over Gov William Goebels
