jt Is Impossible to eradicate It from the system These thoughts are evoked by the announcement of the reentrance of Mr W P Walton Into Lexington newspa tperwork He Is very nearly If not the neator of Kentucky journalism Ho was tempted to come to Lexington from Stanford of which ho was the leading citizen to take chargo of the Lexington Democrat which wo pur chased from him nearly five years ago After a short rest he purchased and- y revived the Kentucky State Journal retaining however his homo in Lex ington during his ownership and editor 4 ship of that paper Some months ago he sold that paper and engaged in the brokerage builnew in Lexington and the announcement was made by his friends that he had retired from the newspaper world for good But he has found it Impossible to rid himself of the disease of printers Ink which he contracted at a time when the memory of man runneth not to the contra ry and now the announcement Is made that he has acquired an Interest in the Kentucky Gazette Publishing Company and will have entire control of the editorial policy of that paper For fear some one may get the mis taken and erroneous Idea that our com parison of the effects of poison confidence and admira tion of those who believe in party reg ularity eo that under his editorship 1t there is reason to believe that tho Gazette will achieve greater success and have wider Influence than it has had since jt was launched upon tho f tempestuous and somewhat uncertain i sea whose waves ebb and flow over so many journalistic wrecks To him personally we extend greet- Ings i To him
