Charles Maugct, a wealthy retired tailor, was arrested in Newport, Ky., on a warrant charging him with the murder of his wife, Margaret, who was found strangled to death at their home a week ago. His bond was placed at $10,000, in default of which he v. as locked in jail. He is 75 years old. The Hardy Grain Co., of Union City, Tcnn., one of the largest concerns of tie kind in that State, has mado an assignment, with liabilities of fl36,M52 and assets of about 1100,000, cqvered to somo extent by mortgages. George Hardy, president of the company, accidentally shot nnd killed himself last week.
