Smith and Morris Wall misstated somo known facts, viz: At a meeting on the last day of May or the 1st day of June, Dr. Acton stated in open meeting all members present that the tax had to be levied in the month of June. At a meeting on the night of July II, all members being present, with the district treasurer, Maurice Singleton, Dr. Acton stated what he told them about levying the tax In Juno. Mr. Lane said he know Dr. Acton said something about it but he paid no attention to it Murphy went to Morris Wall about tho tax so that Wall would bring it up at the meeting, from the simple fact that if cither Murphy or Acton brought the question up the other three would be against it, as they had practically been l VJJIV STANFORD, KY., FRIDAY. Mr. Turpin claims the distinction of being n rebel soldier while Mrs. Turpin is a daughter of Kcv. J. J, Edwards, whoso name appears so often in Kentucky history. Ed owns one amom: the nicest residences In town and takes n delight in keeping every thing looking cory. Ho has four children, all girls; Miss Una, the eldest, who acts us organist at tho Baptist church occasionally, Misses Hazel, Nina and Augusta Worth aro the other three. Mr. Albright takes a great interest in tho atrairs of tho town, always keeping an eye for the betterment of things. He is a great Sunday school worker, a staunch member of the Baptist church, also a deacon and has dono u greut deal towards tho erection and completion of the now Baptist church building hero. As to politics ho la a democrat and is a subscriber to this paper. Lil-H- The State convention of the Church of the Living God is in session at Win- chester. Rev. Df. T. J. Porter, of Roanoke, Va., has been called to the pastorate of the Baptist church of Winchester. Tho meeting at Green river church, Yosemlte, conducted by Elds. Montgomery and Williams resulted in 23 additions. Rev. D. M. Walker, of this place, is conducting nn interesting meeting at the Christian church at Hubble. He preaches every night and tho crowds thus far have been large. The South Kentucky Baptist Association has just closed their annual convention which was held with the church at McKInney this year.
