majority and which is sup- ¬ posed to be the seat of much disaf- ¬ fection at least 1200 people many of them farmers and many whose heads are gray listened yesterday to Senator Goebel tell why he be- ¬ lieved he should be elected Gover- ¬ nor of Kentucky The farmers came to town in spite of the fact that the weather was almost intol- ¬ erably hot and that their crops needed attention Senator Goebel and ex Senator Blackburn must have been well pleased with their welcome Their room was full in the morning until the crowd grew too great and then they went down stairs to see others who were anxious to meet them They were cheered when they ap- ¬ peared on the platform and fre¬ quently during their speeches Senator Goebel was complimented highly at the conclusion of his speech He was given Democratic campaign here believe that the disaffection in Caldwell county is growing less each day They estimate that not more than 200 to 300 are against Senator Goebel and believe this number will be considerably re- ¬ duced by November Senatoi Goe- ¬ bel in answer to a question from a man in the crowd denied in the most emphatic terms that he would withdraw and laughed at the report which he destroyed by fire together with contents Wednesday after- ¬ noon Mr Anderson was out on the farm and his daughter Mrs Thos Anderson and daughter-in-laMrs J T Talley were gath ¬ ering fruit in the orchard when the flames were discovered issuingfrom the roof of the building Mrs Thos Andersons little child was asleep in the house and its mother barely had time to get it out before the rcof began to fall in It was a very narrow escape for the infant A trunk was the only article saved from the burning building The loss on house and furniture is about 1000 There was no insur- ¬ ance w COOK ROOM
