quarantine to day from Matan zas on the transports Florida and Kilpatrick The regiment was in command of Lieut Col Jouett Hen- ry who has been in command since the departure of Col T J Smith who arrived here two weeks in ad ¬ vance of his troops and has since been active in making preparations for their comfort when they arrive from Daufuskie Island where they will be detained for five days in ac- ¬ cordance with the regulations of Womens Finest Hand Turned A double shooting occurred near Lafayette Monday in which one man was instantly killed and an other badly injured The shooting was the result of a family feud with Wm Freeman and his son Tom on one side and N A Dills and R T Dills brothers on the other Recently the Freemans won a law suit over the Dills boys and there has been much hard feeling since Much talk has been indulged in and the Freemans have found threatening notices posted on their doors warning them to leave th county in ten days One of thee had a picture of a man hanging by the neck Monday evening as the Free- ¬ mans father and son were return- ¬ ing from Dover Tenn and when about seven miles from Dover they came up with the Dills brothers in the road Old man Freeman was in a cart iu front and the son was a short distance behind in a buggy with his mother The Dills boys made an attack on Wm Freeman one of them striking him on the head with a rock and
