farm which was owned by Richardson who was un married Shanklin and his wife it seems had gone there to live in order that Mrs Shanklin could manage the domestic affairs The men had not been getting along well together for some time and the altercation which led to the tragedy began at the 6up- ner table Richardson advanced on Shanklin with a knife when Shanklin shot him fatally as above stated Shanklin surrendered to the authorities and was put in jail Both men were citizens of good standing in the county This is the fourth man shot to death in Montgomery county with in the last three
