general election for Representatives to the General Assembly it for Wolfe shall be the duty of the several sheriffs nnd Respcctfnully solicitis the patronage of the other oflieers of election to open a poll for buspublic and will attend promptly to all and make a return to the Secretary of State iness entrusted to his care for the time being of the names of all citi- Â¬ zens entitled to vote for entitled to vote and cause themschea to be registered on the poll book as qualified and names votcis of Ibis Commonwealth of any and all citizens living in thu district known to said officers to be entitled to vote lor Representatives onqndc known to them bj evidence on that day shall be registered as not voting And in the year J8S7 no other officer shall be authorized to make any list or return of the qualified voters of this Commonwealth nor shall any return thereof except thu registration books and certificates provided for by this act be made and all laws requiring list or returns of such qualified voters are hereby repealed so fai ns the year 16S7 is embraced therein The total number of votes so registered shall be the true number of citizens entitled to vote for Representatives within this State for the purpose of ascertianiog whether u majority of all the citizens of this State entitled to vote for Representative vote for calling a convention for the purjioiu of rc idonting amending or changing the Constitution i 4 The said registration books shall be appropriately ruled and headed so that tliey may aiid it is hereby enacted that the same shall be the poll books for recording the votes for and against the calling of the constitutional convention and for ascer taining the number of citizens entitled to vote for Representative uithiu the State It shall be the duty of the said officers ol election to propound to pvery voter the question Jo you vote for calling si constitutional convention or not If such voter shall answer in the nflirmativepliis name shall be recorded as voting for said convention if such voter shall answer in the negative his name shall be recorded us voting against said convention and if such voter makes no answer his name shall be recorded or registered ns not voting upon said question And it shall be the duty of thu oflieers holding the election at each voting place in the Slate to eeitify the total number of voters registered anil the number voting for culling the constitutional convention und to make out n duplicate certificate showing said facts The registration book shall be by them imme diately sent at the expense of the by niail to the Secretary of State at Frankfort Ivcnttipky and thu duplicate certificate attached to the poll book for the ejection of State officers and return therewith as now directed by law f
