President Taft his allies and the methods by which his rcnomlnatlon was secured are regarded by the honest hlgh minded and patrioticI farmers of this section IThe farmers of South Dakota knew full well by what unfair means the Taft victory at Chicago I had been won They elected delegates to the Chicago convention pledged to do everything In their power to nominate a candidate who would represent the people rather than the bosses Accordingly the South Dakota delegation voted sol idly tor Governor McGovern for temporary chairman against Sen ator Root Accordingly the South Dakota delegation split its vote five tor LaFollette and five for Roosevelt every man on the delegation thus rebuking the methods used to bring about President Tafts rev nomination such methods as delib erately stealing ninety votes from the people and supplanting them with votes made by the political bosses of the various States When the result of each highhanded outrage was read in South Dakota
