The Chihuahua (Mexico) Enterprise reiwrts the discovery of some remark-hi- e ancient ruins on a hill or mountain four leagues south of Magdalena, in The hill is about 700 feet high, aud half-wa- y up there is a layer of gypsum, which is as white as snow, and may be cut into any conceivable shape, yet suflicieutly hard to retain Its shape after being cut. Iu this layer of stoue are cut huudreds upon huudreds of rooms from 6 x 10 to 10 x 18 feet square. So even aud true are the walls, floor, and ceiling, so plump aud level, as to defy variation. There are no windows in the rooms, and but one entrance, which is always from the top. The rooms are but eight feet high from floor to ceiling. The stone is so white, that It seems almost transparent, and the rooms are not at all dark. On the walls of these rooms are numerous hieroglyphics aud representations of human beings cut iu the stone iu different places, but, strange to say, all the hands have live Augers aud a thumb, and the feet have six toes. Charcoal is found on the floors of many of the rooms ; implements of every descriptions are to be found. The houses or rooms are one above the other to three or more stories high, but between each story there is a jog or recess the full width of the room below, so that they present the appearance of large steps leading up the mounHo-uo- ra tain. It Measuring; Time. S. 8. Times. is a great advantage to a man to be able to measure the power of time. If there was more push iu the world there would be fewer hungry, half clothed, homeless, suffering children ; fewer broken-dowdissipated men s, aud women; less need of houses of correction and homes for the friendless. Push means a lift for a neighbor In trouble. Push means a lift for yourself out of the slough of despondency and shiftlessness, out of trouble, real ami fancied. Push never hurts auy-bodThe harder the push the better, If it Is given in the right direction. ll Always push few people ueed a push down hill. Don't be afraid of your muscles aud sinews; they were given you to use. Don't be afraid of your hands, they were meant for service. Don't be afraid of what your companion may say. Don't be afraid of your conscience ; it will never reproach you for a good deed but push with all your heart, might and soul, whenever you see anything or anybody that will be better for a good, long, strong, determined push. Push ! It Is Just the word for the grand, clear morning of life ; It is just the word for strong arms and young hearts ; it is just the word for a world that is full of work as this is. If anybody is in trouble, and you see it, don't stand back, push ! If there is anythlug good being done in any place where you happen to be, push ! n, aim-housey. up-hi- Selected. l'nsli. Wast Caused Ilie Wreck. Moseby, who had been away from A. BAIRD, W There aro many tasks too great for the moment, which may, or may not be too great for a mouth or a year. Happy is he who knows from the start what tasks it is hopeless for him to pursue, aud what other tasks he may hope to accomplish in a given time. The art of measuring the power of time is one which every man can learu, aud ouo which he will bo repaid for learning. When one has attaiued that familiarity with his own rate of work-lu- g, that he can tell whether he will not be able to do a given task in fifty years, or whether he may expect to accomplish it in flve.he is in a positiou to save himself much fruitless latior.tuid to concentrate all his eITort upon what is actually practicable.
