Council Cham her of said city at 8 p in Sept 11 1003 t The meeting was called to order by Chairman C W Burnett who having stated the object of the l convention namely to select candidates i for Councilmen for Clay City to be voted for at the coming mu nicipal election in November vacated the chair in favor of Dr R A Irvin who was elected by the body i permanent chairman Durrett White was made secretary I Chairman Irvin in a brief but eloquent speech accepted the honor a thus conferred upon him by the loy al Democrats of this city and at once proceeded to direct the business of the convention t On motion of Stephen Rose which curried the chair proceeded to appoint a committee of three vide the city into imaginary wards for the convenience of selecting candi dates This committee consisted Y the following gentlemen viz ofI u Daniel W T Stringer and W Barnett Whilst this committee wes delib crating the convention was enter tamed by short but timely talks from a number of committee on selection of candidates from suid wards as previously mentioned This committee consisted of Messrs F M Hutchinson C C Danieland Wm Mountz Sr The committee reporting presented the following names for nomination to wit D R Daniel B Litllepage J 13 Derickson B Patton J W Williams C W Barnett H C Warmouth J E Burgher S D Rose White W T Stringer A Noah Rose A ballot being taken resulted in the following nominations D White Noah Rose On motion of Judge W T Webb it was voted certificates of election to candidacy bo presented to each of the foregoing signed by tho chairman and secretary of this conventionThe CITY TIMES was fitting ly recognized by this convention as the official organ of the Democratic party in Powellcounty It was ordered that a certificate of the foregoing nominations be presented the County Clerk of Powell and that the names of said can didates be placed upon the ballots under the Democratic devise the rooster to be voted for intbe No vember election
