Our Bridge To THE CLAY CITY TISIKS In reading the statement in our paper some weeks ago that our Town had 12000 in the bank and the suggestion to use it where it will do the greatest amount of good toliie largest number 6f people I noticed our bridge was left out If we will study about it we can not fail to realize that a bridge of some kind across Red river north of Clay City will do more good and is really necessary to a greater number of people than any other improvements that can be made The City Council has generously subscribed 1000 toward the construction of a wooden bridge ncrossJJie veruear where the old pontoon was and we are reliably informed that the remaining amount can be easily raised by private subscription if some one will go to work and secure it It is impossible to cross the river during wjntertliereby leav many teams idle during this time Every little rain makes the ford below the dam dangerous hiring the summer So it is plain to be seen by any one that it is a great loss to our citizens to be without a bridge The merchants are wearing out their wag OilS and horses delivering goods over such roads j anti the mill men and tie contractors can not get their material without great loss If any one of our business men will take notice of the great amount of trufic that passes over our bridge when we have oue even for one day besides the great number of
