House the building was opened to amusement lovers Tuesdav night when Mr Por ter J White presented Faust The owners owners of the house have met with many delays and disappointments since they began work and it seems that as stated in their card Fate has been against them The scenery had not arrived the furnaces were not in the walls not plastered and many more annoyances were in the way to making the opening what they would have liked to have it But Mr Whites is company carries special scenery to gether with his electric effects and the show was far superior toanything ever given in this part of the state The part ofMephisto the spirit of evil was taken by Mr White who played the role in splendid style Frank MacDonald took the part of Faust while Marguerite was ably rep renented in Miss Olga Verne The company is far ahead of any seen in small towns it was the accident that Manager Kissinger se cured them The scenery was as beautiful as is seen in the city theaters the electric effects being perfect The audience which was made up of some of the best people in this section was highly pleased with the performance felt so amply repaid that they were willing to overlook of the tine old Kentucky families whose life influence helped to build up the new State He never had any other home till about twelve years ago when failing health induced him to remove to where he took possession of his property in that locality consisting of an orange grove of fine promise In 1807 Mr Burdett was married to Miss Belle Walton of Germantown Ky who was a devoted companion and helpmeet to him during the vi cissitudes of thirtytwo years She was called upon to receive his last earthly farewell on the morning of the thirtysecond anniversary of their marriage Believing that he would not survive the winter Mr Burdett induced her to dispose of the Florida estate and remove to they took a house and were scarcely settled when a sudden change in the climate produced acute pleuropneu monia from which he died after an illness of four days Friends new and old rallied around them and human love and sympathy softened as far as the blow The remains were taken to the family lot at Germantown Relatives joined the sorrowing group all along the way Appropriate words were said and sung at the last narrow bed and beautiful flowers attested the worth of the departed one Mr Burdett was a leading lawyer at the Lancaster bar for many years He was possessed of fine legal acumen and gathered among his clientage ma ny who proved warm and affectionate friends through life In disposition he was kind and considerate and gentle He was a cheerful agreeable companion never at a loss for the anecdote or the topic of cur rent interest and his memory was a veritable storehouse of
