Mr. Jacob Nevius died on the 9th of Oct. at his home near Bryantsville He had been a great sufferer for three years, and his last days were so full of pain that he longed for death to re lease him from his suffering. He was born in Boyle county about seventy-seven years ago, but had lived In Gar rard for more than thirty years. Three daughters survive him, his wife having died just three months ago. Mr. Ne vius was a man of great industry and only ceased to work when his strength forbade it. He was upright in his dealings, and was free from making harmful remarks about any one. He had lived out his allotted time, and it seemed fitting that his toil- worm body should be laid to rest, when the leaves and flowers he loved so well had began.their decay. Exceedingly Sad Death. Never in our newspaper experience have we been called upon to chronicle a more distressing death than that of William R. Jennings, which occurred at Paint Lick Monday morning at 11 o'clock. Readers of this paper will remember where we spoke of his visit to this office last week, and our men tion of the pleasant chat we had, When he said "Bangs, I am going to give you my next printing," we were far from the thought that in less than a week's time we would be setting his funeral notice. When in the office,he said he had been feeling a "little the worse for wear but was about all right again." He returned home and on Thursday or Friday was stricken by pneumonia. He grew rapidly worse and breathed his last, as stated above. William Romans Jennings was born in Lancaster 35 years ago. He attend ed the best local schools, and, as we stated last week, always stood at the head of his classes. After securing a fair education he at once took up the saddlery and harness business and never tired until mastering all the points in the trade. He worked for a time at Springfield, returned and moved to Paint Lick, where he at once established a lucrative business. He married a daughter of Mr. I. C. Rucker, of Paint Lick, and she and one child survive him. Will Jennings was a man of few words, but nothing passed his observation. He was full of fun, a true friend, and a sober, honest man. He had a contempt for any one who would do a mean trick.
