all along been in possession of a little inside information which we were not at liberty to divulge but anyone could read between the lines and see that our statements were not castles Some of our people are somewhat inclined to be douLtini Thomases but they should not be which go to show that Garrard is thepeople in the case In the first place Southern Railroad Co calculated that this road would cost 25000 per mile Mr Respess survey and pro show that the line so far as survey ed which is nineteen miles beyond Brodhead will not average 15000 per mile In the next place he was limited to one per cent in grade and curvature Ills profile shows that atno point so far does the curvature or grade get as high as his limit Xow that he is into the only stretch that take him into Jellico does it look reasonable to believe that the com will go to the enormous expense riot come within the limit ofcurvature a one per cent road exactly halt way between the L If and Southern most all the way We make the above statements they come from an indisputable source and for the further reason that some may think the road a myth Now there is but one thing left for to do It is for the people to get together and secure the right of way through this county The road will not be built through Garrard unless gives the right of way Nearly every land owner seen has been very reasonable in his demands and we all will wheel into line But the thing to do now is to get the matter black and white There is not person in Garrard county that will not be benefitted by this road and all will it this way if they will only stop and study the case The farmer will be given two shipping routes to and Louisville and greatest all it will open a route for him to ship his grain and other products to the Southern market which will far surpass the north Th is road runs through the finest coal and tim her in Kentucky and being on a line will it not give you better rotes thanyou could possibly get other wise By giving you better rates to market and furnishing you coal and lumber that a benefit to you This is a serious matter and hand the hat to pay for this right of way but dear reader whatyou contribute taking down and packing a lot of dusty books 1 saw many familiar faces met old friends at every turn and could but wish every now and then that I was there to stay but my sentiment had to yield to my substan tial and material interest So pleas ant and gratifying was my visit that I could not resist the urgent to come again soon and promis ed to go back next week and be there during the first week of the circuit court when I would be most apt to see the greatest number of my old friends and see them where they would look most natural in the Court House and on the juries and beside their chosen counsel I found the larger portion of my law library in good shape but many of my valuable books were not found and 1 hope my good friends may tind some of them about and about in back places where
