According to appointment, the committee were ushered into President Spencer's office and received a most cordial reception. The plans and ideas heretofore given the readers of The Record were presented to Mr. Spencer, together with a complete statement as to the resources of the counties through which the road would p;is, the tons of freight revived and shipped by each promi-leitown, etc., etc. Mr. Spencerask-e- d many questions as to facts and figures, but the committee were prepar ed to give satisfactory answers to all. To sum up the whole confab, the pres ident asked that copies of all surveys heretofore made be sent him at once, that he may lay them, together with the statistics before the board of directors. Some may think it will be built any way, and they might as well make what they can out of it, but, dear reader, there are several other routes which can be easily taken, leaving Garrard out, and the counties will quickly jump at the opportunity to secure the road.
