There had been no one in the building since Tuesday, and origin of lire is un known, though many believe it was set on tire by tramps, who frequently pass on the railroad. It took heroic effort to save the adjoining buildings, and it was only done by attaching the hose to the engine in the planing mill, which clever scheme was invented by engineer Quinn Palmer. It was found upon investigation that the order granting permission to Dr. Kinnaird to put in the present exchange was left out of the minutes at the time it was granted and a nunc pro tunc order was made, which makes the record clear. Dr. Kinnaird put in the present system at his own individual expense. It has proven a great blessing to the town, and, as. his charges are very reasonable, it is nothing but right that he have some protection, as he has .vorked faithfully to give our people splendid services at a nominal cost.
