The Hotel and Opera House For the past week the Hotel and Mr Ryan the architect have had tlieir heads together comple ting plans and specifications for the hotel and opera house The drawings are made on sheets about four feet square and are as neat work as we ever saw The accompanying cut is a fair picture of the new building though a few small changes have been made since the cut was cast Else where in THE RECORD will be found articles of incorporation of the hotel company Everything is now com plete and as soon as the weather will permit work of digging cellars and foundation will be commenced The building will front the Pub lic Square 90 feet on Richmond street 100 feet on the alley 120 feet and 126 feet to the livery stable lot The first floor on Public Square will con tain the hotel office which will be 48x 37 feet On the corner will be a 38x25 feet and another 22x44 on the other side of office next to McRoberts store The office will have a rift floor and plate glass front In second story of hotel will be the dining room and ordinary which will be when thrown into one room 24x47 The ladies parlor will al so be located here and is to be 23x30 are also located on this floor The third story will have a large sample room and bed rooms In all there will be about twentythree bed rooms The interior finish is to be of select Georgia pine finished in hard Company on office in rear of the other The auditorium will be 47x55 with seating capacity of 400 The stage is to be 37x48 and or chestra pit 4x26 The dressing rooms closets etc will be built under the stage and on either side of stage will be large boxes The balcony will seat 250 people and will be fitted up with the same chairs as the auditorium The scenery will be made to draw up into a rigging loft the latter being 45 feet from stage floor to top A ninetybarrelcapacity galvanized iron tank will be located in the build ing to use in flushing closets and oth er similar purposes Two immense furnaces will heat both opera house and hotel The entire building will be lighted by electricity and the com pany will put in dynamo of its own The contract stipulates that the buildings are to be completed by
