Notwithstanding the fact that the rain came down in torrents, the big court room was filled to overflowing by people to witness the public installation of K. P. officers. The lodge sat as a body and took up the entire bar. Several present were heard to say it was the finest body of young men they ever gazed upon. The officers elected for this year, were given the reins of control amid much pomp and enthusiasm. They are as follows: Lewis "Walker, p. c; Ed Bishop, c. c; Joe E. Robinson, v. c; P. "W. Spencer, prelate; J. Joseph, m. a.; J. S. Haselden, k. r. & s.; J. B. Collier, i. g.; Jas. Dillon, o. g. The ceremonies were interspersed with good music by the colored orchestra. At the conclusion of the instillation ceremonies the Knights and ladies repaired to the Mason Hotel where Mrs. Simpson had prepared a feast fit for ye gods. The local lodge has given quite a number of suppers and banquets, but none equal to this has ever been served to them. George White, we gladly divide the honors. It is a remarkable fact that these two men, at the ages respectively of 78 and 58, are able every day to set as much type and as "clean proofs" as any younger printer in Ken tucky. Our "Uncle George," as he is called, rises at 4:30 a. nr, picks his teeth and goes to work at five and by S:30 or 9 has a column of type up. By noon he has another, and so on. He loves his work, never "soldiers," and takes pride in what he performs. I once estimated that these two men and their father before them, who was also a printer here in 1800, had set enough type to stall a freight train on Moran's Summit, below Silver Creek. But we are digressing. The Lancaster Record was the subject. Upon it we predicated these remarks. Mr. Landram, here's to you, to Captain White, J. Clarence E. Woods, of the Rich mond Climax, does The Record the honor of publishing pictures of the editor, Capt. White and Letcher Owsley. The following is taken from the column and a half he gave us in his valuable paper; "The Christmas edition of the Lancaster Record was so good that the Climax desires to attest its appreciation of the effort of Editor Landram by republishing three of the sketches contained in his big issue and to commend him publicly for his consistent and persistent stand for Right in his community. We have long observed the Record's position on public morals and endorse it in every particular. The character of its editor is blameless, and his writings are fit to enter every home, for he stands for what is best in church, state and society. As Mr. Landram modestly omits reference to himself, we will only add to what is above said this picture of the handsome editor, together with re marks of interest to the public. Lastly we come to a subject that will be of particular interest to our Madison county readers.
