on the question of voting for the issue of 35000 of the countys bonds the purchase and maintainance of the various turnpike roads within the county I shall try to approach the subject and discuss it from the standpoint of business not sentiment assuming that all honora ble men are unwlling to take the pri vate property of individuals for the public benefit without a just As the matter now stands we see a part of the county traveling free of toll and the residue nearly one paying toll while all are taxed to the full extent of the Ian alike No one will say that this is equitable A part of the roads are owned and opera ted by the Fiscal Court a part by their boards of directors as heretofore The amount of tax col lected by the assessment will not be sufficient to pay f r the roads already bought for several years after the repairs of the roads and the cost of supervision is taken from the fund which will necessitate the continuance of the present unjust conditions for aiindefinite time Such being the facts what ia the duty of every v tor Cer tainly to try to remedy the wrong thtis being done to a large body cf tax payers How can has inequality be rmedied Jy providing the F seal Court with a fund sufficient to buy and pay for all the roads at once by tho sale of a sufficient number of the coun tys bonds running twenty years at least The be floated at a low rate of interest and by levying a small tax sufficient to pay the interest unit create a sinking fund ih which to pay off bonds or any part of them after the five years thus extending the time in which tl e debt can
