must pay local taxation the same as individuals are made to pay What is known as the Hewitt law gave banks the right to pay 75 on the 100 in lieu of all other taxes This law is pronounced unconstitutional and the banks will now appeal to the supreme court It is believed the case will eventually go against the Banks and if it should it will close up many of the smallfry institutions in the state they being unable to pay the enor mous taxation asscssel against them If the case finally goes against the banks the two Lancaster institutions will have to pay a good sum into the local
