Patrons of the Graded School and our citizens generally will regret to sec Prof. Gowen leave the local institu tion. Prof. Gowen to k charge of the school when it was established three year ago. He had a difficult task in organizing and getting things in run ning order, us no school of the kind had ever been conducted in Lancaster before. He went at the work in a bus iness-lik- e way and succeeded in estab lishing one of the best schools in the state. He weeded out the class of boys and girls who attend simply to say they were "jjoing to school," and during his last year had only pupils who meant business and attended to work and learn something. During his stay in Lancaster he has conducted himself as a gentleman should, and has surely worked hard for the advancement of the school's interest Prof. Gowen has accepted a position with Dr. Ashley S. Johnson, Pres-deof "The School of Evangelists," at Klmberlin Heights, Tenn. The Musical. The entertainment given by the mu sic class at the School Thurs day afternoon was greatly enjoyed by a large'crowd of patrons of the school and other, friends. The patrons of this department are greatly pleased with the success of their children. Mrs. Gowen is a teacher of rare abili ty, ana tnose who unaerstana music say there was never a better teacher in the town. We regret that we were unable to attend the recital and give a detailed account of it. Those who have been sending pupils to Mrs. Gow en regret that she will not be here next year, as the students have made such nice progress under her. Miss Lillie' D.
