man shot Grant Leavel colored with a 44 calibre Smith Wesson revolver the shot tearing a great hole through his bDdy and severing the spinal cord Laavel suffered great agony until 5 oclock Tuesday morning when he died Reports of the trouble differ so widely that it is impossible to give any thing like a correct statement of who is to blame what lel up to the kill ing Warren was lodged in jail State Guard will not go the war as was reported It was said that he would be Brigadier General in charge of the Kentucky tronps Gen Collier told a friend a day or two ago that as soon as the present State Guard was mustered into the service of the Government he will lava to organize a militia to take its place It may be Gen Colliers present intention to stay out of the fray but a veteran is like an old cir cus horse when he hears the music le wants to go round And the same instinct abounds in the old soldier when he hears the clatter of arms and smells powder he could not be held out of the fight by a logchain If the fight gets hot we will wager a quart of old bourbon that Genl Collier goes to the thickest of it IT took the House just one minute and fortyone seconds Monday to pass the himself confronted with the task of selecting 328 officers of volunteers including twenty Major Generals Brigadier and their staffs IT is believed at Frankfort that the three Kentucky regiments will move nest Monday but this is not certain Leut II S Whipple will muster them iato the Federal service In a few days Kentucky will need a new Sta e Guard and volunteers who were left on the first call may get in line forthe next call by organizing as State The President by proclamation has allowed Spanish vessels in United States waters till May 21 inclusive for loading and departing and Spanish
