last Wednesday night nt 040 oclock after two months Illness from pneumonia and Jagrippe Mrs Gregory was born June 24 1822 She was a Miss Claycomb the youngest of a family of sixteen children In 1842 Fhe was married to George N Giegory To this union were born four children Mary E Peter S John F and Drue E Gregory The first named child lied in 1881 and tlie others with her hushand survive her She also has six grand children and six greatgrandchildren livingThe funeral was held from the j family residence at 230 oclocK Thursday afternoon The services were conducted by Rev tj U Chris tian of the never apprehended s A little over a week ago Henry Deane son of Sam Dnnne colored of tnis city who works in Louisville was pointed out to the police by neon of the murdered man as bein Madison Jessup Deane was arrested and taken to Owensboro Friday In the police court room in that city witnesses were summoned to testify to his identity Several negroes and white men testified that in thei opinion he is Jessup Wm Smart o this city testified that ten years ago Deane went to work for him at th age of sixteen Deane claims that he is twentysix years ot nge and therefore only four years of age when the crime was committed Deane is now in the Daviess county jail pending an investigation as this indentity Prominent citizens of this city will testify that he is no Madison Jes np if ho is ever ar
