Haggard M W B M Powell Smith Rogers J S Berry F J PentecostCommittee A Sketch of W11 Cox W M Cox was born in Stephens port Ky May 2 1872 and died March 23 1004 He was the eldest son of J P and L Kate Cox grand son of the late Rev Wm Head and also of Wm B lox deceased At the age of thirteen his parents removed to Henderson county Ky which county he resided until the past few years In the year 1804 he was united in marriage to Miss Pattie Rudd of Corydon who together with three little children survive his loss When seventeen years of age after profession of faith he united with the First Baptist Church of Hender son of which church he was n faith tul advocate until a few months since at which time he was greatly revived in spirit and decided that his duty was to follow the Methodist teachings in company with his wife who has long been of this faith At the time of his death he was in the employ of the I C R R and was stationed at Cerulean Springs For several years he had been a much valued employe On Wednesday March 23 he ate his dinner as usual and was in an exceptionally happy mood At two oclocs the reconstruction train load ed with ties left Cerultan for the pur pose for distributing necessary mate mini of repairing the track for some miles distant They had been gone only about one hour had covered u distance of about seventeen miles and were crossing the bridge over Little River which runs through Hopkins ville The train had been moving slowly and 35 or 40 men were scatter ed the length of the train to prevent the ties coming in contact with the bridge railings One tie slipped out of place catching i the deceased below the knees turning him several somersaults and casting him into the water below a fall of some sixty feet The blow against thA bridge is supposed to have killed him His body remained in the water about five hours before the searching party rescued it Messrs J P Cox and See Robinson arrived in Hopkinsville at six next morning at which place the body was prepared for burial It was then removed to Corydon Henderson county for interment The funeral conducted by the Rev Everett under the aus pices of A O U W Lodge at the M E church was held Friday after noon at two oclock A large number of friends from throughout the county wore in attendance Mr Wm Head and Mrs Walker Board brother and sister of Mrs Cox and Mr Z T Cox and wife of Ekron
