morning at 8 oclock Death was due to brain trouble which is believed to have been caused by an accident that befell Mr Moorman about five years ago While passing through a field during a storm a broken limb was hurled on his head by the wind and after that he always complained of his head hurting him j Week before last ne was taken sudden ly ill and his relatives were summoned J to his bedside Last Tuesday he j railed some but then grew worse J until the end came J J Jas A Moorman was an exemplary J type of a Christian man and J was oie of the most popular and promi J J nent men of his part of the county J As a farmer he was successful and was a man of good circumstances Among J the citizens of the county he counted J hundreds who were his friends and many of these attended his illness J I and funeral I Mr Moorman was born in 1843 J near the old home of his father Jesse J V Moorman who lived to be eighty I five and was a pioneer settler of J the county He spent all of his life at Glendeaje and helped to make it one of the most substantial communities J in the county Since boyhood he has been a member ot the Goshen Baptist church at Glendeane i Besides a wife Mr Moorman is J survived by two daugnters Mrs Lntie Slum of Saoremento Ky andJ Miss Hallie Moorman of Glendeane a son Vennie two sisters Mrs R JI O Willis and Mrs J T Owen of J this city and an only brother Dr J the passenger rates which 8inll exist during the Worlds Fair The passenger agents decided to recommend a sixtyday rate cf one and onethird fare and a tenday excursion rate of onehalf fare All the Messenger C c Ji SUIT CAUSES A SENSATION Hardinsturg Ky Feb 2Spac- lnlSottethingsnore than a mild sensation was created here last Friday when a suit was tiled by some of the heirs of the late James Miller against Judge Matthias Miller who was formerly the administrator of that estate In the petition eleven of the heirs sue as plaintiffs They allege that the estate is really worth be tween 75 000 and 00000 though it was generally thought to be worth only about 140000 It is also charged that Judge Miller bought out several of the heirs for less than their re spective shares were really worth and that as he was the administrator he had no legal right to purchase any share of any of the heirs in the es tate The prayer of the petition asks that the settlements of Judge Miller as administrator be surcharged and that judgment go against him for such an amount as represents the difference between the actual sum paid the heirs for their respective Interests and the amount that they were really entitled to receive The answer of Judge Miller will not be tiled until the first day of court It will probably DO a general denial of all the allegations in the petition He has that tobacco is no longer a profitable cropfffor them and are turning their attpntion to something else inquiries of course into other means of making money on the farm are being mad Tne News is of the opinion that the farmer would fare better than iat present if he would devote his time and money to raising more hog mules poultry etc for which thero is a growing demand and of which there is no overprodncti Man farmers however do not agree with this idea or fear that they would be unsuccessful in putting it into pro tics Then there is another class who realize the value of the idea and will attempt this year to adopt it but tt- a In small scale This method of course is very good Let the farmer raise more poultry mules or hogs this year than he did last and still more next year Let him continue to raise the same crops he tins been tobacco excepted but decrease his Hcreugs proportionately as he increase the size of hid herd of live stock or his Hock of chickens and turkeys And finally let him raise onlr enough wheat corn and other crops to sunpl food for his family and his stocK For the farmer who wants to qntlt raising tobacco and still keep his land in some Kind ot a crop other crops are holding out attractions lnl some farmers are going to raise thom this year in certain sections of the State Three of these crops are give belowIn section of the Stn e preparations are being made to plant the entire tobacco acreage in cotton this spring as the growers clnlm that although the cotton crop in Kentunk is a partial tailnre they will be uble to make more than they are by raisin tobaccoA crop to which the attention of the farmers is being attracted IIs broom corn Delivered at the factories it brings about 5 and G cents a pound a figure which will pay inuci better than tobacco At this price IIt is said that the returns per acre and per hand will be very much more than those from tobacco the crop is much less difficult of cultivation there is little or no chance of
