to taKe effect August 81 1 Rev Walton formally announced his resignation from the pulpit at Sunday mornings services He i preached Sunday evening and wil preach here the second and third Sundays of Line packet Tell City passed up Saturday almost a day late owing to a break down in her machinery She was followed immediately by the Henry Harley a Cumberland riverboat which goes to take her place in the trade while she Is placed on the ways where she will remain dur ing the rest of the summer The Harley is smaller than the Tell City but will be amply able to handle her trafficWhen the Tell City returns froa the ways at Madlnon everything but her hull will be new Her old boilers are to be taken out and now ones put in and her machinery will receive a thorough overhauling The cabin will be rebuilt and refurnished and in eveyr way the boat will be put in tip top condition It has al ways been difficult for the boat to get hands on account of the supersti tions of the negroes and it is annul a lease in land executed by the late James T Miller to the Tar Creek Jlnerol and Natural Gas Co Several hundred acres are under lease to this company and the plaintiffs are asking that this cloud to their title be removed because of the fact that no effort has been made on the part of the company to develop tho property since the lease was executed in the year 1888 FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED Wm effect that they had either seen the men making mash and manu facturing the liquor or had bought it from them He was unable to locate the still itself but the evidence was so clear that the prisoners Fishers buggy horse was killed by lightning Sunday afternoon during the hard rain and thunderstorm The animal was standing in the yard at the Fishes homestead on the Cloverport and Hardinsburg
