with all men while so much could not be said of his predecessor Mr Ashcraft came into the race hampered by a number of things The Populists did not want him because they claimed that he had de serted them The Democrats were not over zealous for him at any time In the very start they felt that he could not carry the strength of his party As the election grew nearer this fact seemed to be more apparent It was a wise step therefore for Mr Ashcraft to get out of the race We dont suppose any one has any personal feelings towards Mr Ash Â¬ craft in the matter but politically they could all see his weak points He acted Judiciously in giving way and selecting a man who is in a position to unite the full strength of the party Mr Murray is that man and no better selection could have been made
