host issue of any Infidel paper ever printed have said this several times before of previous sues of the Blade and have told the truth all the time because the Blade Is the best newspaper in the wholo world getting still better all the time Barring a few little errors in typo graphy the last Blade Is my ideal of an Infidel newspaper If it had had about twice as much In it as It would have had if I had had atinotypo raking the Items in their order I do not need to be told after writing for newspapers for forty years that my story of Rev George Barnes is told in at least fair reportorial style and this Is true of everything I said My peotry lu Kentucky which I wrote for the Lexington Leader and was by mistake not Credited to that pa per has gone the rounds here Of course am not a poetgot too much boss sense have to be a little crack brained to bo a poet But I have told you that to write peotry you must either know how to scatty scientifically or you must have what is known asuan ear for music even to do the mechanical part of peotry which though a secondary feature in poetry la simply lndlapensa hJeTle story pfilie two poema by trttrr8I1 tJr 7mn Rt Yf Isa novelette He used obe8 preacher was then a teacher then an editor and is now a shoemaker working on the bench So wore Tolstoi and Roger Sherman Both of his poems are beauties but Unmuzzled Oxen is in every sense essential to poetry just as fine as anything Burns ever wrote Wilsons handling of Rabbi David Phllipson is the most masterful thing he has ever written Not only the force and style of the argument but the spirit inwlilch it is donetaken from Cincinnati CommercialTribune simply faultless and articles of that kind have easily placedhlm at the head of the del writers of the world excepting Kidder of course as a specialist Wilson in his first piece makes Phil ipson take water a thing that sky bus ters rarely do they lake something stronger Ton Wilson simply turns Ihllipson over ills knee and spanks him and Phlllpson goes way back and sits down and cries and dont want any more of it in hisen If Philipson had been a Campbolllte or Baptist or Presbyterian or any of these other upstart newfangled re ligions It would not bo surprising that DooUHed him that way but In a splendid city like Cincinnati where the Jews are the biggest and richest people in the whole town they l e not going to put up any spring chicken to do their crowing and you better bet Phllipson knows his business and he is a man of enough sonar to know when he lies got enough and thats more than the average skybuiter knows That column from Dr Bowles shows him to be the best president Wilson not excopted that any lulldol organization over had lie can make our hand like Kentuckians used to shoot rifles a dozen speeches a day all just as good as are three people connected with this paper who might bo President of the United States In If this little paper wero backed with a thousand or two dollars and I can astonish the tives If the friends of this paper will simply put Into my hands to make the first payment of 1603 on a linotype machine and do It Inside of a month from now have financially In the conduct of this little paper had my nose to the grludatouo one of these omory stones 4000 revolutions to the minute over since started it in 18J excepting the time have been In the penitentiary and Jailsthe only times I have ever felt independent and no man has over seen a tythe of my resources if I had the money to develop them There is every condition In the world to make this little paper the most Influ ential publication In the world except cash in hand to make the first pay ment on that linotype andon the other hand the whole capoodle may go lieu wards In a hand gallop or like shot off a shingle if dont get that But give me that to get that machine and believe I see straight before me 100000 readers of the Blue Grass Blade In three years from novTwliether live i i 1 tre t or go tip rulers who over lived have all been women They were Zeno bin Homlramls Elizabeth and Victoria A woman fs eligible to the presidency of this government The article of Dr Wetmore is splendid Ho is the brand of a man that In gorsoll houored with his personal friendship anti in his own beautiful home with his loved and appreciative wife as I have had the pleasure of soe ing thorn ho is if possible even more attractive than ho is as ho appoars In the Blade Ho Is the man who comes nearer than any man I know to reflect ing the gentleness of Ingersoll Kale Austin Is a grand woman and anarchist that making that brand of the article that shoot the stuffing out of just such chaps as he is If a great genius like the Infidel anarchist Tolstoi comes here I want to put the big pot In the little one to of this little paper Look at that string of Condensed Letters There Is not another Infidel paper In the world that can duplicate that and we had a whole lot more that we could not print for thewant of this account and that his house was burned by Christian eneI mM so as to make It appear that he had done It Of course I cannot tell our write this asking friends of the Blade to send mo information so license having been Issued to hUrt April by Harry ster of Indianapolis Ind and Is No Yule He sends me satisfactory evidence of his being a highly skilled clock maker and ho tells me that he conducted his jewelry trade simply to assist him In 19 business as u detective and an official letter praises his faithfulness as a detective That there has been an effort to array religious prejudice against him because of his Infidelity real pr suspectedIs evident from news pap r reports that he sends me In one of tnese reports occurs the following Hauser was rigidly cross ami dasto his religion denied being rLST7fuYEilItiyntneTpaiiei spellfed Paines name that way Editor Moore Voltaire Ingersoll and other works accepting only that which was good In them He believed IiTthe Bible in God and In Christ course no attorney had any right to ask any such questions ay that In defiance of the constitution of the United States of course such questions were only Intended to prejudice the Jury and the judge that allowed such questions to bo asked richly deserves to be sent to the penitentiary for a good long term for having committed a crime against this government scarcely if at all less than Czolgoszs assassins tion of McKinley and there Is no shad ow of doubt whatever may be true of Hauser that he has been foully dealt with by an Infamous and villlanous Christian court Of course If irauser really believes what he Is represented In that Christian paper as saying he believes he Is a Christian and It Is only an Instance of a gang ot unscrupulous Christians secuting one of their own members s common for them to do and it would not be any special business of ours to try to defend him Or If Hauser Is an ntldel and burned his house with any criminal purpose it Is none of our busl ness to try to defend him hut the chances are that Hauser landing that he was In the hands ot an unscrupulous Chrljtlan gang that were persecuting him for his Infidelity lied to them to save himself from the penitentiary Of courts It would have been more noble In hIm to have said he was an Infldel and have suffered for It as so many good and honest men have done In the iamb of their Christian persecutors but If lying under the circumstances is the only fault that Hauser has committed It l3our duty never to let up In our efforts to save him TliHt Christian witnesses will lie Christian attorneys and Christian judges and Christian juries will send an hmo cent man to the penitentiary simply be cause he Is an Infidel cetrtaluly do know from personal experience and this man Hauser a poor foreigner here who can barely speak our language would be still more liable to such un outrage than I was know from personal experience with those fool Christians IIOWl1lii North Carolina that they are dangerous bail people among whom no Intelligent and honest Infidel is safe Twenty years ago was down in that country and In a fine business house expressed my Infldel opinions not so radical then as now to two prominent citizens They said to me In an Insinuating tone that I might safely talk that way to them but that It should go out ou this street and utter such opinions as rte those some man would probably hurt meThere are of course Infidels among them who are good people and some cases of Christians who are good peo ple but before a court there now suppose It Is just as It was in Kentucky when began my career In the State and as It was In the United States Court that tried me In Cincinnati where the judge sat and let his attorney examine a Jury to see that they were all Chris Hans before they could serve In the trial of myself We want to find out tho straight of this case and even If ho Is an Infidel has burned his own house for tho Insurance then we may just abandon him to the Christians to persecute even though they do It unlawfully as they certainly have done according to thin re port of Christian newspapers but If that man is Innocent and these Chris tians are simply persecuting him be cause he Is an Infidel as personally know Christians will do then repeat that we must take his case to the preme Court of the United States necessary to save him No true Christian can be trusted with the liberties and rights of any true fidel Make It your business Infidel brethren In the South to find out about Hausers case and send me the information to printI the only Infidel among the 2300 convicts In the Columbus penitentiary and am very slow to believe that any true Infidel will commit a crime NEW RELIGION IN KENTUCKY The CourierJournal of Feb gives a long and very respectful account of a new religion In Kentucky The Bla3e wishes it success the more the mer rier It starts at Dlrie tat ouil Mrs Jennie Sigler of whom the I says she Is a woman of high standu and is a member of one of most highly respected families in Henderson Sigler Is a prophetess of some what the order of Bro Dowie She says Jesus Christ Is soon to come back to the earth and will come to Dixie There was some Interest to get Prince Henry to come to Lexington and Louisville but neither of these cities has as yet taken any steps toward having the tinguished founder of the Christian ligion to visit them when he comes to Sigler by the aid of the Bible and the arithmetic has figured out that there are even 114000 people who are going to be saved She does not say how many of them are from Kentucky and have received no notice that am among the number ot the redeemed am doubtful about my chances as she does not seem to warm up to Prohibi lion She says whisky drinking is the least ot the forms of intemperance- She agrees with Bro Wyscarver In saying that we ought not to eat any meat anti she wants to keep Saturday as a Sabbath She says that getting mar ried and dying are two things nobody ought to do In the first of these she will find a sympathizer In old Bro Har mon of Lucifer As to dying many of her Christian brethren suicides in Kentucky are using their influence against her Sometimes think dying Is a good thing and think the suicides have more good sense than any of us Then again think dying is the last thing any nun ought to do On the whole am my feeble efforts to try and inspire my fellows with a love for truth and liberty and to help to send ringing around the earth the grandest religion ever offered to the human race the religion ot Thomas Paine The world Is my coun try to do good is my religion Again thanking you remain respectfully your grateful friend JOSEPHINE K HENRY Versailles Ky Mlrcli3r 302 WILL HELP J INFIDELITY I have received an Issue of The American Weekly a paper devoted to the propagation of the religion of Alex ander Dowie It prints a letter from Percy Cllbborn soninlaw of General Booth of the Salvation Army In which Cllbborn says that he and his wife have decided to join Dowies church and the Kentucky papers have tGeorgeics church Dowie has put my name on his church roll and regularly sends me duns to pay what he has assessed me Under the laws ot the United States Dowie has just as much right to teach his rellg Ion as any other man has to teach any other religion and as all religions are simply schemes of knaves to make i money out ot fools there Is no more t reason why Dowie should be molested In his scheme by sending him to theipenitentiary for getting money under false than there Is for jrprllMglance that the success of Dowie Isudiscouraging but really I do not think It Is but I believe on the other hand that It assists Infidelity Dowie Is a thoroughly orthodox Chris tian but a more unmitigated scoundrel does not live and yet right here In the amantoe dceiiUiugidIV j4i llegjbJri u dortliepupfd oG obery under the guise of religion astthe average convict will not do has to day a following obtained In about fivetyears that Is as large as the religion got In the first 350 years of its i existence while Dowie has in that time made 1000000 and Is next to me Pope the richest preacher In the world Of course to the Ignorant and unscrupu lous masses who make up the rank and file of all religions this Is reason torfthem to follow Dowie while to the morefintelligent classes It plainly shows that i the ultimate success of the Christian religion Is by no means any evidence 4 that It Is true and the prevalence of t Christianity though It has gone over only onethird of the earth In 2000 years and though only onethird of the people of the United States are municants In any church and the largeJmajority of these are women and chil dren and Ignorant people Is neverthe less the greatest argument for Chris tianity that is made by Its apologists A SUNDAY SCHOOL STORYVOnce upon a time an infidel gentle man and his Infidel wife came a dlsltance to my house in the country totwarn me that a Christian who longed to a prominent family had vowed to kill me and for some time my wife hung a thick blanket over the window every night fearing he might t assassinate me In the dark Some years since his wife eloped with another muttihad not seen the man who It was said was liable to kill me for a bet of years Lately met him was poorly dressed and looked HeIWe bowed to each other kindly would now do anything that could to help him have gone through u great deal of mental suffering myself and am sor ry for any man or woman or animal t that suffers could even forgive Rucker If he would ask me CRIMES OF CHRISTIANS For the want of money to print all want to print In the Blade have late ly failed to print various Instances ot t the conviction ot preachers and afew instances of the conviction of priests f for various crimes and of persons who t have been hung who to their spiritual advisors declared their faith In Chris tianity have found no instances lu which Infidels han been convicted of crimes but it Is true that there Is almost if nut quite as much bigotry among loll dels as among Christians and more stinginess among Infidels than among Christians J L r IL u BLUE Guess BLADE THE CORONATION BY JOSEPHINE HENRY The American press Is giving space to coming coronation of Edward VII of a vast nniount of gush In regard to the England There even talk of equip ping a costly fleet at the expense of the people of the United States to hear nn embassy to the coronation thus stamp ing the people of the socalled American Republic as flunkeys and caterers to royalty anti Its hangers on As Edward VII took the oath of ofllce that made him head of the church and King of the British Isles and Emperor of India he fore the body of his royal mother was cold and has held all these positions for a year why should the English people he called on to furnish millions of pounds to place a crown upon the head of a degenerate who happened to be the son of his mother Of course that Is their business The masses of the En glish people are republicans at heart but the eccleslasts landed proprietors inancial kings and politicians from these classes hold them In bondage The coming coronation Is a relic of feudalism used by the rujlng classes to awe the masses with the power of alty and wealth to perpetuate the trIne of the divine right of kings and to keep the Iron hand of monarchy on the throat of the laboring classes until they pay Into the royal exchequer tax 1monry sufficient to defray all the ex penses of this shameful extravagance ostentation and vulgar display And what part have the people of England In this coronation farce They will suspend their avocations throng the streets look on In awe and admiration r and put up the coin to foot the bills The streets of London on coronation day will present a spectacle of regal magnificence but what of the actual conditions of the people within the walls of the houses that line the streets In the last Issue of the temporary Review Is an article on the ISoclnl Abyss revlewng Rountrees re cent work on Poverty A Study of En glish Town Life To read of the ual conditions of the people in L- onIdon today sends a thrill of horror through the reader and this horror is Intensified Into lasting heart agony when one realizes that there Is no rem ifIdy under the present regime for these ftlg tppalllng conditions t Rountrees facts nnd figures show that nefourth of Englands population Is soet 1 grinding that the masses are reduced to a state which the savage would reject with scorn These conditions r not only In the cities of Engla in tine rural districts to say nothing of Ireland and India which are held In the grasp of this avaricious monarchy the lifeblood of whose people Is coined Into jeweled crowns and coronation robes The coronation pageant will doubtless he the most gorgeous and expensive In the history of the world yet all this going on while every monarchy and despotism on earth today rests on bon of republicanism that will In time and no long time either wreck them and sound their knell There Is a chamber of horrors In every monarchy and England has her charnel bouse which Is slowly but sure ly coming to light England has on her hands today a social problem fraught with greater danger than the Boer war or any other International complication An Inhuman poverty condemning one fourth of the population of a country to physical and moral degeneracy Is a cer that cannot be cured by jeweled crowns royal robes dazzling pageants and coronations England today presents the travesty to the world of a nation Inflicting suf fering and barbarous destitution on a large per cent of Its subjects yet trying to Justify herself in conquering a weaker nation by force of arms to force up on It her socalled superior civilization Millions of pounds have been extorted from the toiling masses of the English people for the Queens Jubilee and fu neral and now conies the coronation that will cost enough money to relieve for a time at least onefourth of Eng lands population who are condemned to conditions of squalor and deprivation that are heartrending These conditions of Englands social Inferno are given to the world by such English writers as Mr Stead Charles Booth and U Rountree and their timony makes one turn aghast with amidst all this the unspeakable tragedies of the Boer war and the men aces to tho English monarchy from all sides the British press exploits day by day the regal magnlficance of the com ing coronation and the cut of the clothes of the froth of English society when they kiss the hand of their newly crowned ruler A starving family In Londons social cellar or a dead Eng lishman In South Africa Is of small Im port compared with the tawdry tinsel required on the coronation robes The coronation crime soon to be en acted In London is fraught with dangers of which the English pelo little Edward the obese degenerate voluptuary In his coronation toggery will bo proclaimed head of the church and state If the ecclesiastical and civil body of the English nation are on a par with Its head surely the masses of the people who are ruled and plundered by taxation are to lie Edwards services to the church will be commensurate with his fitness and ability The truth Is the English Church Is disintegrating so fast that In the near future but a siiftll faction will remain and they will find consolation and sal vation In Roman Catholicism and the Pope will relieve his royal highness of church surveillance The American Episcopal Chinch Is swarming with snobs who are aping these English parasites They too are swinging around to Roman Cath olicism by star chamber and dark tern methods and the result will be that Rationalism will capture the brain and brawn of this church and It will go out of existence not leaving even a shadow of Apostolic succes sion This class of renegade religion ists perfumed with holy water will swarm at the coronation The loaves and fishes are of vastly more Importance to church dignitaries than souls anti salvation If England wants a coronation that Is her business But what has the United States to do with this royal tomfoolery- It is only a little more than a hun Bred years ago that almost all the men In the United States able to bear arms risked or laid down their lives to expel monarchy from our shores and establish a republic Americans In that day taught the royal Idiot George III who was the great grandfather of this Edward the VII such a lesson that the whole world has been profiting by It ever the United States Government Is not a protest against monarchy what Is It Yet we propose to send a col lection of freaks who are now oiling up the hinges In their knees to kneel bow and scrape before the high muchamuck on an English throne Think of the spectacle of Whitelaw Reid and Grower Cleveland In knee panties dancing attendance around the English throne Shades of Jeffer son Paine Franklin Old Hickory and the men who died that we might be forever rid of such rot and nonsense When France inaugurates a president we do not send anembassy to congratulate the people of the French public yet but for the aid of Frt nco we could not have thrown oft s yore ea tit re t nlsm would have been stayed a half century or more Great Britain hates republicanism so that she refused to recognize the Paris Exposition of 1889 because It was Intended to commemorate the be- ginnIng of the French Revolution which vith all Its horrors and crimes was the grandest most beneficent and profitable event In humanitys politi cal history Since that event priests and kings have been more modest In their demands and they have ever since retreated before the majesty of human rights and they will continue to retreat until there will be no place for them on the face of the earth Compare the pompous presumptu ous heir to the British throne with a jeweled crown on his head with the man with the hoe in his hand the Industrious moral hardy son of the soilThe fart at once presents Itself that the man with the crown Is a par asite that the world would be well rid of while the man with the hoe will Inspire hope an t decide the destiny of the human race We predict that Jhe man with the hoe will be consulted before the coronation of Edward VIIs successor and the claimant for the crown will awake to the fact that crowns std coronations have gone out of fashionr The more I think of the proposition to send an American embassy to the coronation of an English monarch the more undemocratic outrageous and pernicious It appears The pee pie of the United States scorn the Idea It is only the snobs Anglo ma niacs and money barons who fawn upon the English nobility who desire o show themselves by joining in Ed wards anachronistic medieval curcus Edward will smile in theIsleeve of his royal robe as the quious American kisses the hand king that Is red with the blood of an unoffending people fighting for their are thousands of worthy citizens of the United States who came here because they hated monarchy and when this Republic needs soldiers they risk their lives to defend prln ciples their native countries trampled under foot yet when a European monarch Is to be crowned It is pro pos ed to insult our Americanized for- eIgners by sending an embassy of toadies to emphasize the claim of the divine right of kings to rule The monstrous proposition Is made too that the American people pay for this expedition which will make this Republic the laU nlnl stock of despot i Ic Europe Every titan In Congress who would vote money out of thin pockets of the American people Jill such n purpose should bo retired to private life If Congress will do Its sworn duty It will put Its foot down so hard on this whole flunkey business that It will be heard around the world If a delegation of Americans want to get themselves up In monkey clothes and attend the coronation let them go at their own expense If they can get an Invitation to the show from the star actor Even a millionaire tan make a monkey of himself A delegation of Americans who In the presence of royalty have backbones of heated India rubber with double back action hinges In their knees should stay In England when they get there They do not belong here and never will bo missed There will be plenty of loyal level headed men left In our country and If the supply of this type of men runs short there Is a reserve force of loyal levelheaded American women suffi cient for any emergency What we need In the United States to live up to our principles and pretensions is not nn embassy to the coronation of an English monarch but a coronation of sovereign citizen queens so that we may be In fact a government of by anti for the people If we believe as we profess In liberty and equality we will show our teal friendship for the caste cursed English people by refusing to rally round the British throne Thus would we repudiate monarchy which Is the very corner stone of our political edifice Rather let us emphasize our princi plea by sending an embassy to help In augurate the presidents of the Republics of Cuba and the Philippines Now is a time to read with profit Palnes Rights of Man and to study the fundamental principles of our govern ment If there ever was a representative American Thomas Jefferson was one The following Is Jeffersons estimate of the sovereigns of Europe In his day and to a great extent his estimate will apply to royalty In Europe today and Is food for thought In the United States at the present time Thomas Jefferson said When I observed that the King of England was a cipher I did not mean to confine the observation to the mere Individual now on that throne The practice of kings marrying only Into the families of kings has been that of Europe for centuries Now takfliany race of animals confine them ln pole ness andl inaction whether In a sty a stable or a state room pamper them with high diet gratify all their sexual appetites immerse them in sensual sties nourish their passions let everything bend before them and banish whatever might lead them to think and in a few generations they become all body and no mind and this too by a law of nature Such is the regimen In raising kings and this has gone on for centuries While in Europe I often amused myself with contemplating the char acters of the then reigning sovereigns of Europe Louis XVI was a fool of my dwn knowledge and In despite of the ant swers made for him at his trial The King of Spain was a fool pnd of Naples the same They passed their lives in hunting and dispatched two couriers a week one thousand miles to let each other know what game they had killed The King of Sardinia was a Us the Laughing Stock of the Old World From Cincinnati POiltl The American people a few of them I mean arc Intensely Interested in the visit of Prince Henry They sniff the approach of royalty as keenly as till ghost In Hamlet sniffed the approach of morn They never question the political significance hack of the visit The deeper their Ignorance of the real Intent of the Princes visit the more rosjiosi hllity they attack to their welcome Happily the mass ot Americans know that monarchies have no love nor friendship for republics They know that a commercialism based upon show of friendship and hospitality Is the merest childishness There no sentiment In commercialism All people t buy where they can bargain the best The childish love of the slitter of title and pomp is coming to the surface of American character and In my opinion this visit of the Prince will make us the laughing stock of the old world Unfor Innately the true American sentiment from Its snob willijudgeto royalty Itself as It is contemptible to all highminded patrl epic Americans All true Americans believe In being civil and courteous at all times and es pecially hospitable to national represen t tatives of friendly nations but not at the expense and deprecation of demo cratic dignity Not as a Prince not as Royalist but as a man and German rep resentative should Henry be received Ii But In this case we all know that it the Prince our snobbery Is bending to If Virchow or Haeckel were to visit yusmen who have earned by their Intel achievements the gratitude ol all mankind they would hardly be no f tired The Four Hundred would turn out at an operatic reception and make a vulgar display of hundieds ol millions of dollars worth of jewels the earnings of toll wrung from the aggregate muscle and brain and heart am blood of the people all of which go tc make up the luxuries of that titlewor shiping Four Hundred If monarchies loved Republics If they were not om Implacable enemies too could heartll join In giving this national visitor royal reception But no wideawake American will be blind to the fact that all this royal exhibition of friendship is only royal pretensea diplomatic extent sion of a hand that would turn and I It could smite democracy from the face of the earth- Americans should not lose their heads and fall to scrambling when a little roy al sop is thrown to them They should l learn to bow only to brains and to ge rcbnl118 to humanitys liberatorsnot to enslavers The German Government I4 btu e4 penhe German array the J slave master of the German people The whole system Is organized conspiracy against intellectual and physical libel ty Prince Henry Is the very symbol and embodiment of that enslavement from which a million German people effected their escape to these shores With credit to their good sense our German citizens are making the least exhibit of flunkeylsm of any one They are hero because they love political lilt erty more than military enslavement A welltodo and intelligent German 4 woman said to me today would not look out of my window to see the Prince if he were passing I have seen enough t of royalty My brothers wore taker from me and put In the German army had to take their place and break reck with a sledgehammer on the public highwayssawed logs in the forest when the snow was two feet deep and worked nil summer in the fields no royalty for me Im an American would a thousand times prefer to visit the modest home of this old Ger man woman and look into her honest patriotic face than go to see a mediocre Prince surrounded by the vulgar display of a Nations wealth as exhibited In the jewels and bare necks of Its more or less leprous Four Hundred She stands for the common heart of humanity while Prince Henry repre sents customs and conditions from which to escape humanity throughout all time has had to wade through blood and butchery anti tears attack the Princenot the man the principle he represents net the people he represents do not attack official courtesy but social snobbery Americans upon all occasions should never forget that they are first last anti always Americans Ill fares a republic when it grows indifferent to Republican principles sentiment and dignity when it sends official representatives to the coronations of Kings thus recognizing elevating and dignifying the monarchial sentiment throughout the worlda new departure for Democratic America- J B WILSON TWO CLIPPINGS FROM FREE CIETY am also woried about Charleyboy Moore of the Blue Grass Blade The last Issue of his paper contained not a single editorial on himself What dark un fathomable mystery is back of this accountable silence I wot not Whether the Blade office is short on capital Ie or whether its editor like the Hindoo mystic is lost In a profound contempla tion of himself as the sublime center of his own universe do not know But I am worried about It for know that something Is wrong would suggest to such philosophical Anarchists as Wat Tyler who by the way has given a bad odor to that grand revolutionary name to publish a paper for themselves and not tire the non phllosophlcals the bombAnarchists with their wordquibbling Think of the they could gain thereby they Iallvantage be classed among the bomb and avoid all the troubles of the latter by pointing to their official organ ALFRED SCHNEIDER was both surprised and delighted re cently to receive from Mr W Loyd of New Rochelle N Y a paper weight made from the hickory tree which grew from the grave of Thomas Paine Imagine that had Paine chosen a monument for his grave he could have se lected none more fitting than a stately hickory tree which towers by nature above Its fellows and waves Its branches In the freedom and purity of the exalted atmosphere A tree straight strong unblemished and with durable fibre rough exterior of which resists the tacks of the designs of tire forest and the blasts of adverse tempests serve only to Increase Its strength The fuse fruit borne in beautiful clusters Xlssed by sun and dew In turn the enter covering concealing the richness tt the kernel together with the stored energy and its future possibilities In this tree Is immortality From the heart of our great liberator the seed germinated antI Its roots are nourished y his elements As the hickory nut must lie concealed In mother earth for a oerlod before Its life principle is germinated and later appreciated by the veal wayfarer resting tn Its shade so was the life work of Thomas Paine un ecognlzed and unappreciated until our arth mother had concealed his form for many years t But a rslll cctlon has taken place ind the movement has received i fresh impetus The principle of the life and works of this great man is evolutlonlling the world by thought In stead of the emotional action which has been result of the alleged physical resurrection of Jesus Christ- I thank Brother Loyd for sending me this remfsder of the Indestructibility of natures forces of which we are all a part antr I trust that whenever my eyes rest uprrthis souvenir I may be im bued with of the enthusiasm which was so freely expended by Thom have n little fun and by mistake they assas sinated man who was not the one they Intended to assassinate and then they tilled a baker because he sold his bread oo high and then a woman and child were killed and then It kept on until people were killed and 200 wounded None of this amounts to a hill of beans and would have attracted no tention if it had occurred In Kentucky some Sunday at church But the worst part of all this is that these people who started all this assas sination and other brands of killing are by the Associated Press dispatches over the world spoken of as anarchists when our Amelcan Dlscon ent and Free Society that claim to be anarchist papers and of course know what anarchy Is when they see It have again and again explained to the world that anarchists never kill any of the arduous duties and trials that filled his life during the troublous times of war Lincoln kept s habit of daily prayer and expressed a hope of blessed Immortality through Jesus Christ- I deny that Lincoln ever expressed a hope of blessed Immortality through Jesus Christ and I challenge Rev BlowhanJ to ftdilitfe the proof Lin r cola was an Infidel of much the same style as Paine who devoutly believed In a god Paine greatly admired Jesus Christ as a good man and it may be so far as now recall that Lincoln ex pressed admiration for Jesus Christ as a man but there Is no evidence that Lincoln ever believed In the divinity of Jesus and he never said onetenth as much In favor of Jesus as Paine did Washington seems to have been an In fidel of the Paine school the greater part of
