FOR 30 YEARS i 1 r Preen Schqol Tax now all Goes Into General Funds for Rural Schools I f EARLINGTON WILL GET ANOTHER k COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL CONTRACT 1 The announcement published in Fridays Bee about tlm calling of the election to establish a inEarlingiton has attracte general atten tion and is coining in for no lit tie consideration and discussion by tho homo folksmost interest ed Of course all the details of1 the situation cannot be under stood perhaps from a single an nouncomeut and all phases of the question could not be cover ed in a single article But it will bp Oho Bee s purpose to IItry to give full publicity to ev erything bearing on the matter to the end that our people may fully understand and under standing will work together in harmony and full accord for the proposed imoortant progress ins our schoolwork affecting every member of the community and making sure the future welfare of our school and our children One thing must be understood in the beginning That is that there will be only one school tax- Our people are now and have been for the past three years paying a school tax which has treaei ury of- uoation the County Board of t for the general support of the rural schools of Hopkins county What is now proposed is that we shall vote a school tax for local purposes only for the support of the Earlinntou3raded and High School all Of which will be used for the benefit of ourselves and our neighbors inI the proposed new graded school This graded school district tax will take the place of the pres ent school tax we are assessed and cannot escape It will not be another or a second tax The Bee believes that the people Of Earhn ton have an interest in education in the future welfare of their children and that they 1have home pride enough too to fall in on this public spirited movement for the good of all our people and make the thing thing practically unanimous at the election to be held on Satur day September 14th next The order for the election men tions a property tax of 50 eepte- i j on the hundred dollars of tie essr ed valuation and o = poll tax of 1 1 50 This means tfithese are the limits beYdiidwhich a board of trustees may inevitable if we would educate and progress and now be enthusiastically willing t I to P your penny for our i Fi cake and get our full reward in the eating of it That the local school tax both on property dud the poll tux is inevitable and cannot be escaped we all now realize because we have been paying such a tax into thecounty treasury for the ben efit ofnil Hopkins county for the past three years Let us now all agree to pay oUr school taxes for home consumption only and use all the proceeds for the benefit of Earlington Assurance was yesterday given by the County Superintendent land the
