DISTRICTI ELECTION HAS BEEN ORDERED To Comprise The Present Consolidated EarlingtonHecIa Sub District DATE OF ELECTION FIXED 14fleadingrEVERY REASON TO BELIEVE THE rOUTCOME WILL BE SUCCESSFUL i y JudgerBradley took favorable action on f a petition of twenty of Earling tons loading business men and i citizens asking that ah election be ordered for the establishment t tinand surrounding Eurlington of a graded school district Tlfie position had also as required by lav the written endorsement of Paul M Moore trustee and Prof AJ Fox county school superintendent The county judgograpted the petition find entered an order fixing the date for holding the election on Sat- o urday September 14th 1012 at which time a board of five trus c tees will also be voted for and the authorization for the levy and collection of taxes necessary for support and maintenance of the school will be given ff The signatures on the petition are as follows Geo O Atkinson Ohas Cowell Dan M Evans Jno M Cansler Paul P Pride Ernest Newton- D P Banks C B Johnson i W E Rash MrJB lioiifiSi E L WIHO L 0 Wiley i O W Webb JE Evans tFB Arnold W R Coyle r Goo tV Bates W L Phillips t H D Cowand R N Clark The petition asked that the ielentioubJollll d to establish the graded district elect a board of trustees and authorize notIt and poll tax of not more than 150 on each male white citizen of legal age The order of the Court appears in full in these columns N The purpose will he to carry out the plan that has been under E consideration for the post sever al years by the local trustee and the qwners of the school proper ty tb establish this graded school district and put Earlington ou the same footing as Madisonville Dawson Springs and Hanson The readers of the Bee well un f t derstand that E1rlin ton has had f for years and excellent graded X ond high school and they also know that the school has for many years been supported by private funds and that but for C this private support we would have had r only a SIX months t school each year instead fthe splendid nine months school our children have enjoyed They al so know that the Erlin ton pub public has never paid a school tax for local purposes and that the school tax we have been pay ing for the past few years under the new law has i ohenot into any local treasury but into the d county treasury for the benefit of the schools of Hopkins county generally They also know that the peeple of Earhugton have been the beneficiaries for many years of the free use of splendid 1 school property which was built and furnished wholly out of pri t vate funds and let free of charge to the Earlington public for ben efit of our school children Inu other words the people of the graded school district now proposed to be established have been tax free so far as thi school is concerned i fynl have 0 ueyeltheleiiiy benefited for many yeatHfrom n free nine months school taught by the best obtainable teachin force and in the best building and equipment to be found anywhere in this sectioilof the count tryThere is every reason to be lieve from expressions that have been heard from many citizens during the past year that the people of Eurlington will carry this school election thmujrh to u Septa14thance and cooperation have been made to those who officially represent the school interest in Earlingtou and interest in the welfare of our school seems to be general and sincere Certainly there is no question of greater import than that of the welfare and improvement of our schools and the best possible education for our children The no surprise It was inevitable from the time the post started that either it or the Sun should untlmately suspend publica tlon Morganfleld in fact no town on earth under ordinary conditions of 3500 During Week of Sept 914 The New Course and Grand Stand From a racing standpoint patrons of tho Kentucky State Fair during the week of Sept 014 will be well provid ed for as the program which has been arranged by L B Shropshire assistant secretary of the Fair Is one of the best seen In Kentucky In years He has arranged for six stake events for trotters and pacers valued at 600 each and six purse events for trotters and pacers valued at 500 each and In addition he has provided for six running races one for each day of the Fair and a gentlemens cup race and a gen tlemens riding race the last named two to be decided the closing day of the Fair Among the stake races will be one for twoyearold trotters one for three year old trotters one each for 218 trotters 225 trotters 213 pacers and 225 pacers The purse events will consist of one each for free for all trotters 218 trotters 215 trotters 220 trotters 212 pacers 217 pacers and AmeersDuring rs the racing feature of the Fair has proved one of the most Interesting of any attraction provided by the management and be cause of that fact It became apparent to Secretary J L Dent that better fa duties would have to be provided for caring for the patrons of that particu lar feature With this Idea In view the very first contract entered Into by Commissioner Newman and Secretary Dent was with contractors for the en largement of the grand stand and when the gates are thrown open the morning of Sept 0 just twice as many people will be cared for in the race track section of the grounds as former ly The new addition to the grand stand will be of reenforced concrete similar In every respect to the original part of the big stand making It one of the largest as well as one of the most substantial grand stands In the country Here can gather thousands of Kentuckians to renew old acquaint ances as well as to witness the sport that Is dearest to the heart of every native born son and daughter of the old commonwealth Unlike many of whereIers the sport furnished at the State Fair can readily be designated as that of the king of sports as the man agement of the Fair has no Idea of reaping any reward except that which comes from a good word passed around by Its patrons Therefore all races are decided strictly on their merits and in each Instance the best horse wins That some of the best horses In training on the tracks of Kentucky and other states will participate In the trotting and pacing events on the pro gram this year Is demonstrated by the fact that already owners have applied for stable room for the week and have made numerous entries to the stake eventsUnder the arrangements provided by Assistant Secretary Shropshire one stake event and one purse race will be decided each afternoon during the week In addition to which will be one running race each day As nil events for trotters and pacers with the excep tion of the twoyear old events will be three in five heat affairs it is needless to say that each afternoon will be crowded full of good sport for the flair patrons EVERY BREED OF DOG Included In Bench Show at Kentucky State Fair Sept 914 Perhaps the biggest and best dog show over seen in Kentucky will be witnessed at theKentucky state Fair this year the week of Sept914 Heretofore the dog show feature lot the state fair has been confined exclu sively to collies but this year the management has decided to have a bench stfow for all breeds of dogs and to that end dog fanciers through ut the state have been Invited to participatein the show Since the invitations were first Issued by the management through the press several weeks ago many of the fanciers in every section of the state have joined the movement to make this feature Olatra success It is doubtful if there is a breed of dog known to this section of the country that is pot bred and raised in Ken tucky and it is the purpose of the officials of the Fair to have every breed represented For several years the breeders of dogs other than collies have endeavored to interest the management of the State Fair in a bench show that would include every breed Those who wish tej ter their kennels Ini the big sho can secure entry blanks and all information by applying to Secretary tf JJDent It 1 safe to say this show will eclipse all previous bench shows or dog exhibits ever held Ia Kentucky The show will be held under the rules of Ike American Ken eel club which will give it national prestige and character J tI tlli I ll kCJ r r r r r Y- S II t y ARE YOU SICK r Ja For LiverClearsappetite Catarrh UlcersHumors
