tjftftftt r in The County Board of Education yesterday took favorable action on theaboye r ppr 4HKe heads of4 the several high schools of the county andextended the existing County High Schopl tuition contract to the Dawson Springs Hanson and Earl ington high schools 1 This was the culmination of the resolution offered at the August meet ing of the Board by Paul M Moore at which time he reopened the ques c tion before the County Board and urged that the free high school tuition privileges to be extended to all nigh schools of the county so that all the J common school graduates of the cpunty might have privileges and all be given the opportunity to educaj high school within their reach At t that meeting theresolution asked for a conference of the school men and a report by them to the County Board Heretofore the County Board had for the post two years restrictedat tenCancd of county pupils to the Madisonville High School by a cop tract that excluded other schools of the county for a term of three years Prof Rubins at the August meet ing said he was willing to waive the exclusive clause of the con tract which a member of the board i argued was illegal Since that time the Madisonville School Board held a meeting and agreed to waive their right to the enforcement of that clause of the contract Yesterday Prof Rubins conveyed to the County Board of Education the best wishes of himself and his School Board and i lent his best efforts to help arrange heor extension of the free high school privileges to all thechUdren of Hopkins county J The extension of the contract goes- into effect at once and dates from opening of the high schools for this years work School men and member of the County Board consider this one of the most important steps for the advancement of DECIDES BECAUSE OF FEW FUNPS The short term schoolc of Hopkins county will continue to be short term durin the present tyIrecord in favor of taking the matter up iu time next year when they hope to have funds a plenty of this undertaking and extending all the so called pun per schools to the full legal term of six mouths prescribed by law for tlCMnmon schools in Kentucky There are this yea seven white schools and seven beingItaught two to four months because the per capita iu the pauper districts is riot sufficient to pay a teacher for longer terms It is found upon investigation that these schools could be extended for the full six expenditureyone dollars for each school and th County Board has the undoubted authority under thej law to do this Paul M Moore introduce- o at the August held that will be in the old building and the service was more appropriate to the approach ing departure from the build ing that has sheltered the steadily growing congregation for some twenty years past Many of the little band who then put their efforts and their money into the frame building on Sebree Avenue have passed over or have removed to other parts but the growth has continued steadily
