charges that hind been made That struck the key note Prove itI gotteninand proof of tho train that is said to have brought these 100 votors in from Evansvillo tho morning of tho election and landed south of town The first clause of tho protest cannot be sustained rime election commissioners claim definitely to have found one man I whom they charge voted illegally This may bo true but the voter chnllongedbywas passed by tho Democratic election officers One man is not ninny and divers voters Tho second clause states that the commissioners find over soy mty names on tho northeast Earlington poll book that do not on time Assessors list of Hopkins county which has just been completed Of course if the assessors list had been completed for these precincts time finding of such lames would only bo evidence tho assessor had not found men and it would not be any proof against tho citizenship of hesomon But the truth is that precincts imo tho comparison was made and the week following tho late of above letter tho assessor for this district had and exhibited on tho streets of Eorlin ton a bundle of individual lists cor these precincts which ho said reportedThe tim Earl ington city assessors list is also to tho point This list was mado up September 15th to 25th mind by a man who knows time people of Earlington thoroughly There are listed thereon 788 mon of legal ago subject to appointed tho clerk and insisted on having the one who did servo although they wore besought to nplO1it n man rnpidlyThefl lit of this remarkable letter assorts that tho county clerk had furnished more ballots to the Northeast precinct than woro ro quired by law that time clerk furnished additional I lots on tho day of olectionisixt y I four of which at those ballots Avbro returned loose ow And in supportof time ns sort ion that more ballots were 0 L A 1 furnished Olork Brasher than were required by law they lIre sumo to make n comparison of precincts 1800 Time 1808 vote could have played no part whatever in the estimates of county clerk unless as n trt of a trick to defraud the citizens in this precinct of their suilrngo In 1808 there was practically no vote polled on either side and if time ballots for this your had boon apportioned on the basis of tho 1808 vote adding the 50 per cent required by law there would not been ballots enough in any precinct in the county For instance there were only 2118 votes cast in the whole county for all candidates in 1808 Add to this the required CO percent increase or 1057 ballots- nlll1 time clerc nil this basis vmim have furnished to time entire coun tv onlv 0170 ballots In thoolec- tion just held there was a total of nalO votes cast in tho for tho heads of tho various tickets Thus tho county clerk would have como short just 2110 ballots in tho county if ho had figured with 1808 as a basis 200 ballots worn furnished tIme Northeast Enrli1 product by County Clerk John Bra simmer Ho said on tho day of election that ho hall talon the 1800 vote as a basis for Junking time ballot books for this year so this was either a trick or a gross error for n number of changes in precinct boundaries have been made since 1800 in time county Tho Northeast Enrling ton precinct now takes in time on tiro town east of tho railroad In 1800 Main street waff a division lino and there woro two precincts tho oast side2both of which are princ in tho Irocinctboundaries in tho county wero as they now aro and on that years vote only could the county clerk havo made an equitable estimate of tho number of ballots necessaay in time precincts of time county In 1807 tho total vote in tho county was 4808 Upon this basis with the CO per cent added there would have been ample provision for all precincts precinct was given 200 ballots by Clerk Brashier Lakowna given ilOJballots If the clerk figured on tho 1800 vote ho should have given Lako 501 ballots and an estimato for Northeast could only have been mado by combining tho 1800 voto of tho Northeast and Southeast- precincts Time All vote cast in I those two precincts in 1896 was 890one hundred moro timn time number of lIailots furnished for the 1800 election If tho clerk had figured on tho- 18U7 vote which furnished the- oniy reasonable and equitoble- basis ho would have given- Northeast141 ballots and Lako- 3U7 The vote in 1807 wasNorth east 265 Add fO and 2011Lnk L Even upon tho basis of the- 180S vote which is impossible Northeast should have been- given 75 moro ballots than Lako But tho clerk gave Lako 150- mrnro than Northeast Tho extra ballots which were furnished Northeast precinct did not change materially tho ro suit of tho lays voto in that precinct Sixtyfour of theso bal lots wero polled tho differenco- in favor of the Republican ticket- being only eleven so this had very effect on tho 124 Taylor plurality given by time to tal voto of the precinct Tho truth is that time 280 pin rauityout of the two Earlingtou was too much for tho Qoobol men and they statement I linvo received of the Lord that which I also I delivered unto you 1 Tho Lords supper is a divine ordinance It was Instituted by Christ Himself in time supper room in Jernsa lent at tho close of tho Feast of the Passover It was the Lord Jesus Him tself who the night Ho was betrayed bread and brake and blessed It and commanded it to be eaten in reticent bronco of Him and the cup and Is not only a memorial of Christ but a Memorial of that crown- Ing act in His life by which the worlds WItS redeemed from sintho death of Christ As often aa ye oat this bread and drink this cup ye do show tho Lords death till Ho come Tho necessity of such a memorial is duo to tho fact that tho human heart Is so prow to forget Wo forget even our greatest benefactors with amazing ease What a blessed thing it is therefore that Jesus instituted this ordinance to troop us in constant remembrance at least of the moat stupendous event in the his tory of tho world I Though wo forgot all else of tho the blessings contained in this Christian festival And thus alone can wo be blessed in partaking of these sa cred emblems There is nothing effica clous In the elements or in him wb administers them but when properly received tho Holy Spirit blesses them to the good of our souls 4 Tho Lords supper is a command This do II said Christ Ho left no al tentative It is as direct a command as can be
