ThreeMonth., " e, d high-hande- d The Goebel managers arc not personally interested in this year's election, and therefore, were willing to sacrifice Oscar Turner and other nominees for congress and J. P. Hobson for appellate judge under a show of fairness, and to that end there was chosen for election commissioners a better class of democrats. But these men will not be in charge when the foul work is to be done directly for Goebel. As it is, the machinery is all in the hands of the democratic party and the majority members of the commission may without fear of results do that which best pleases them. There is nothing in the law that prevents making a mock-cr- y of elections if they so desire. Even though the better class ol democrats are in temporary control, the great power put in trjeir hands is dangerous and undemocratic. They are privileged to burn ballots, upset the desires of the voters and refuse to recognize all the rights of the republicans or populists so far as the Goebel law goes. There are no provisions whatsoever in it for the punishment of violators of its mandates. It is designed to incite and perpetrate fraud. The Goebel managers have no interest in this years contest. They are lookirig solely toward the spoils of state and county offices and jobbery to come hereafter, and will then use all the corrupt powers of the law for that purpose. The Democratic bosses never propose a fair election; they may permit one to go by default when there is nothing in it for them, but will take no part in political decency. to President McKinley Enthusiastically Endorsed by Rising Vote. CHARGES FRAUD. Secretary Alger Also Endorsed Among the last acts of the annual encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic, adjourned last week in Cincinnati, was the passage of resolutions endorsing most heartily President McKinley for his successful conduct of the war with Spain. The resolutions referring to President McKinley and Secretary Alger were given precedence when it was decided to consider the report of the committee seriatim. The resolution referring to the president was first adopted by a unanimous rising vote in a scene of most enthusiastic demonstrations, and it reads as follows: thirty-secon- d Courts and Not a Prejudiced Committee flust Decide wise, conservative, unselfish, patriotic and statesmanlike manner in wbicb our honored commander, Wm.
