we think will triumph in this war Unless a miracle is wrought or the powers of Europe place their navies at the service of Spain and this would be a miracle there can be but one result Another correspondent asks when we think the war will end We do not think on the subject Two naval officers of high degree and of character higher even than their rank stated within two weeks in our hearing that it was their opinion and that of most of the naval officers whom they knew that unless Spain surrendered be fore she was entirely financially and physically exhausted it could not end till some time next summer No positive signs of its being ex hausted are apparent now It is an interesting and suggestive fact that the senators who argued for weeks in executive ses sion in favor of the annexation of Hawaii their speeches not being laid before the public arc now in tentionally silent It is said that this is to save time and force a speedy vote That may be the motive with some The last seige of Havanna took place before the invention of torpedoes and Krupp guns A fleet of 200 vessels among the finest in in the British Navy and an army of 15000 men went to take Havana by a Correspondence toTni IIEEJ The brigading and rebrigading of General Wilsons First Division First Corps did not stick and now the regiments have been brigaded again As a result tho Third Kentucky Regiment will not move now The First and Third Kentucky and Fifth Illinois arc now brigaded to gether and will remain at home This will in all probability neces Hate another move of quarters by the Third since the other two regi ments are now to locate close to gether The present location of the Third is excellent and the new location is not far away and equal ly as good General Wilson moves his
