agitator of today and it can be plainly seen that if such men could have their way mob law would reign supreme and peace between operator and miner become a thing of the past If the object of the strike is only to ob lain living wages for mining coal why do its promoters not fix a rate per ton which wil a wage and let the operators who will pay it start up while they keep the rest of the mints idle The public will sympathize with the miners in a fight on that line It will enable the operators who are willing to pay n just wage to do business rindenable the public which is not an offender in maintained is of stopping production until a scale for mining is agreed to by all The reason for this appears in the quotation given alove It is simply that if onefourth of the mines were allowed to that will yield good wages in the latter will be a starvation rate in tho former The public would like to buy all of its coal from the big veins where it can be mined easily and sold cheaply and there are plenty of big veins to supply the entire trade but that solution docs not satisfy the operators who own the thin veins or the miners who work in them These parties want to dig and sell coal too It is that if a laborinsupply should be taken from the first place so long as that is a fact The public docs not want to pay nn extra price for coal to compensate one owner for the disadvan ages under all in their power to stop the plague but in vain There has been doubt as to what the dis ease is and it has been very fatal Out of a drove of 105 Mr Barrett has lost thirtyfive hogs and al most it
