school after which he taught until he accumulated sufficient money and then he would go to school as long as his money would hold out and then turn to teaching that he might se cure means by which to better his education He was educated in the Public Schools of Livingston count and in the school of Prof E McCulley Madisonvillc Ky and the N N U Lebanon Ohio He came home and studied law obtained license lo practice and in a short while gave promise of the future that followed He is recog nized by all who know him as one of the best lawyers in this district He is an able and effective speaker His speeches compare favorably with those of the best speakers in the State He is married and has one child He is fair just and able and if elected will make an officer that will prove a credit to himself and his people Charlie Grassham is a sincere honest conscientious man of fine attainments and splendid promise in his chosen profession He is possessed of a lofty energy that while a school now than 1 did a month ago No doubt speculation is respon sible for much of this rise and speculation may put back the chalk marks to what we have bein taught by years of hardship to cgard as are so inflamed that it will be hard to content them with a less price than within the immediate neighborhood of a hundred cents Another element in favor of higher prices is also the superior quality of the winter wheat which in most states runs as high as 63 and 65 to the bushel and poundsI tempt foreigners to pay more The chances then are good that the farmer will continue to get a fair return for every sack he sells though he may not get more or quiteas much as paid this week Dollar wheat is not of so much importance in itself hut it means a vast deal when its influence upon othtr prices is considered Corn has to follow in its wake and as this is the greatest crop from our fields the effect of better prices for it can be readily imagin ed We arc carrying millions of bushels of the old opinion that it was verging on a boom and prices reached their meridian and then a slight reaction followed The enormous price paid for wheat and the general prosperity of the country have caused an in creased demand for tobacco and the consumption has been greatly enlarged since the advance in prices The most marked advance has been along the line of trashes common to medium lugs and common leaf which are bringing twice as much now as at this time last seasonMedium to good leaf and fine and selections have ityewise made a notable advance but not nearly as great as on the lower grades
