fallacy of the free silver arguments last year of bar silver which on June 14 one year ago was quoted at G3 cents per ounce and now at 5931 cents per ounce It will be remembered that their stock ar the evening of Monday June 14111 1897 at 630 oclock Mr Walkers health had been bad for some months and Ida last illness began the even ing of December 15 1896 as he went home at the close of time meeting of the Odd Fellows lodge of which he was a umber Next morning he was worse The trou ble seemed to be a blood clot on the brain which deprived him of tile power of speech and otherwise seriously affected hunt Every care anti attention was given him and he rallied nun wns ableto come out on the street lre fluently but the improvement was only temporary A partial paralysis anti other serious affections set ih and he grew worse to the end Mr Thos L Walker was horn in Wheeling West Virginia May 3 1829 He married Miss Malinda- M Sntlle February 17 i857 Seven children were born to them nilof wljoni died in infancy except one who lived to the age of night years Mr Walker fought in tho civil war on the southern side and was a soldier in the Mexican war l or twentyfour years he has been- a citizen of Kirhngton where his time has been spent in industry and energetic earnest work forthe tettcrmcnt of his fellow man lie lies been a zealous member of the Methodist Church and of various icncvolcnt orders Masonic Odd Fellows Ancient Order of United Workmen Knights of Pythias and possibly others Rev J T Cherry pastor ol the Earlington M E Church South of which Mr Walker was a leading member and one of the founders conducted the religious service at- the family residence at 215 oclock Tuesday afternoon the 15111 instant and the remains were taken in charge by the assembled fraternal orders at 3 oclock and conducted o the Odd Fellows cemetery at adisonvillc where they were buried with Masonic rites by E W Turner Lodge No 548 F A M of Earlington acting for irnsalcm Lodge of Hcndersoi of which Mr Walker was a member The pall bearers were J H Deane anti Jno W Twyman for the Knights of Pythias N W Hllff- and J J McGregor for the Odd Fellows anti Geo C Atkinson and fas R Rash for the Masons among which number his church was represented The church choir in whose singing in Sunday school and church service Mr Walker had taken such- great pride went together in one liicle after taking part in the vice at the house and bore with sm manybeaufiful floral oferings o their departed friend The procession was the largest- one seen in Hopkins County for- many a day and lithograph posters which the Centennial people aro using all over America and Europe I was most eager to see the modus operandi of this art so after breakfast this morning I strolled around to their place which Is located on Sycamore street between Fourth and fifth and Immediately on turning Syca mon street my attention was attracted by their large sign Thu Hcnderwm Litho graphing Company Successors to the Henderson Achert Krcbs Lithograph- Ing Company which was conspicuously placed across a large sixstory building that Is entirely devoted to lithographing aud the printing art Upon entering the establishment I was most cordially greeted by the President who took great pains In showing mo through their magnificent anl enormous plant where the finest work known to the lithographers art Is turned out I was first shown the designers stu dio where a number of artists were engaged in creating and painting Ideas tor Urge advertising posters These gentlemen wero drawing their completed designs on different stones a wonderful process which I shall not soon forget There were a number of hand presses taking off the Imprcslona pf the different colors Used In this wonderful art the whole to be blended In beautiful colors and tints according to the number of stones used In the printing which are afterwards placed upon steam presses and the magic of artistic effects which were produceJ by these processes was simply wonderful to me The noise In the steam press rooms was almost deaf ening to my unaccustomed cano each press being adapted to a certain lass Qt work such as show cards calendars potter pamphlets and different kinds of high art stationery A large number of girls were engaged In tho manufacturing of calendars novelties etc In fact everything known In the lithographers art la exquisitely and artistically turned out of this mammoth establishment Their countingroom wu filled with a busy lot of clerks and the rattling of the numerous
