Harry McIntire commenced playing professional ball with Dayton, Ohio, and after a varied experience in the minors and with Brooklyn, became a member of the Cubs' pitching staff in 1901, and succeeded in turning in thirteen wins. His batting average that year was better than that of most pitchers, only four in the National League doing better. He has a record of 108 strike outs in 1908, 91 in 1909, and 65 in 1910.
