The collection includes documents received from the relatives of Morgan's men, newspaper accounts, government records, books, and original records created by those involved in the war. The collection was assembled between 1955-1958 and covers the period 1858-1960. Mr. John's original order was maintained and has little or no organizational structure. Newspaper clippings and oversized materials have been removed to separate boxes. A folder list was created to facilitate use. Various non-textual items have been transferred to the Society's museum and photo archives.
